Apart from issues where surgery is required, it is found that most infertile women suffer from some kind of ovulation problem. There can be different facets to it, depending on the cause and are accordingly treated.

A woman can be infertile due to ovulation disorder. Doctors treat this issue by prescribing Clomid or clomiphene citrate. It triggers the ovulation process by acting on the pituitary gland. This medicine is effective for women suffering from PCOS too.

Ovulation is hampered if the gonadotropin hormone levels fall. In these cases, hMG or human menopausal gonadotropin is injected to act on the pituitary gland so that it stimulates the ovulation process.

FSH or follicle stimulating hormone is another in the line that is administered when the ovulation is abnormal due to a problem in the follicles.

In fertility cases where the ovulation happen but is not regular, Gn-RH analog or gonadotropin releasing hormone is injected or sprayed through the nose during the expected ovulation period so that the pituitary gland becomes aware of the time.

Sometimes a high level of prolactin, the milk producing hormone can hinder the ovulation process. This can be treated through the administration of Bromocriptine or Parlodel.
