AVAL UPPUMA(RICE FLAKE UPPUMA) Recipe | Starters and Snacks Recipe by Sarada Venugopal |
| INGREDIENTS | Aval (rice falkes)- 2 cups
Coconut grated- 3 tsp
Green chilly -2 slit into halves
Ginger -1" piece chopped
Garlic- 1/2 tspn chopped
Curry leaves-1 sprig
Chilli powder-1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder -1/4tsp
Salt to taste
Water as required-approximately 1/4 cup
Mustard - 1/ 2 tsp
Urad dal or bengal gram-1/ 2 tsp
Mixed vegetables of choice (potato, peas, carrots, beans.)-1cup boiled
Onions-1 chopped
Oil as required | METHOD | 1) Sprinkle the ricefalkes with water to make it soft and keep aside.
2) Heat oil in a kadai and allow the mustard seeds to splutter.Now add urad dal(let it brown),chillies,garlic,ginger,onions and curry leaves.Saute till onions turn light brown.
3)Mix in the boiled veg,chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt.Saute for 2 mins and add water.
4)Now add the rice flakes and mix well(water will get absorbed).
5)Garnish with grated coconut.Serve hot with tomato sauce or chutney.
Can add a pinch of coriander powder and garam masala for taste . |
