i have also had success by getting my sons to read a few underlined words of a paragraph, at full volume. this has the effect of 'breaking the ice' . they laugh breathlesslesly and then read with a smile in their voice... subconsciously getting the message that reading aloud is fun! we also listen to audio books at bed time. this helps with pronunciation, diction, cadence and it's such a lovely way to end the day.
