Tampon is fine to use.But when you are on a heavy flow its always better to use pads.Tampons are perfect for swimming .If you have heavy flow and you want to wear tampons then i recommend you use period panties.Adira period panties will protect really heavy flows too. There is no harm in using tampons if you will change them after every 4-5 hours.

if you started your period tell an adult or someone you trust. if you flow is strong and you feel like your not stopping the bleeding use a super tampon..i suggest the ones with the scent..they smell good.platex is the best in my opinion but if you dont know how to use one just ask you doctor to show you how. your doctor is someone you trust and he/she will be a big help. if your afraid of tss your not he only one,i was to and i still am,just be sure to take it out within 8 hours, and wash youself, read what the paper int he tampon box says,it is a big help. hope this really helped you.: )

come on,im 13 years old and i use tampons. if your scared to use one dont use it. its common sense and they are so much easier. if you have questions ask your doctor or parent or someone you trust the most. dont come on here because people will just give you the wrong info.

hey i just started my period a day ago. it was really easy to tell my mom. don't be afraid to tell your mom or a woman you trust. they will understand comepletley. i am on a swim team so i will have to use tampons. you just need to relax. and a tampon will go in if you put it in right. everyone can use one. your color does noy matter. i hope this helps. p.s. the pads do feel like diapers and before you use a tampon call your doctor that would be the smart thing to do.

i remember the first time i tried to use a tampon - it hurt like hell! i thought there was something wrong with me. i think it's just that if you're a virgin using a tampon for the first time, things might be a little tight and that's why it hurts so much. all that stuff about 'relaxing' is crap, even if you're relaxed as hell you still feel like you've just shoved a firework up yourself. so my advice to girls starting out would be to use a little lubricant the first time you try just to get things a bit more open and comfy. after the first time on tampons though it becomes easy as. i hate pads now, they just feel heavy and stinky. tampons are the way to go. today i'm about to try swimming on my period for the first time, apparently with a tampon it should be okay...we'll see.

i was reading about all the articles about the tampoon hurting and no one seems to mention the size of the tampoon as being the problem. they make ultra lite ones like the teen ones. try using the smallest first, just remember with these ones you may have to change every 4-6 hours instead of eight. if you buy us products the chances of tss in significantly lowered because of the materials are known(polyester, cotton and rayon). some places use different synthetics and include different unknown materials to produce their products, so its always recommened to buy us brands for those worried about tss. normal wear times are: lites=4-8 hours regular= 8 hours wear supers= 6 hours wear super plus= 4 hours *it is not recommended to wear past these times nor wear when there is little to no period. if you have a heavy flow you may need to change sooner then the times listed above. **and no tampoons do not cause yeast infections. using them without a period may cause it and is never recommended to use tampoons without a period.

you cant tear your hymen with a tampon anyways, because it doesnt go "deep" enough inside of you.

hi gals, i am 29, married with a kid, i used tampons for the first time and it feels so comfy.... i guess its more easy to use tampons after giving birth.... because ur vagina is already prepared for the big things... :-)

i just read your faq section, and felt there was a problem with the answer to the question of whether a girl loses her virginity if she wears a tampon. then answer seems to imply that if a girl's hymen is broken then she is no longer a virgin. yet the hymen can be broken in all manner of ways and is only one indication of virginity, not the key indication of it. if a girl went running as a child and her hymen tore, she would not be counted as having lost her virginity. therefore, even if a tampon did tear the hymen this should not be seen as meaning that the girl is no longer a virgin. i feel the answer is misleading in this regard.

well....i've read alot of these comments, and for all those girls just starting your period who haven't consulted your mum i suggest you do, but if you don't feel comfortable, pads are so easy to use... just stick them to your underwear and off you go =] and tampons come with instructions! also for girls scared of using their first tampon, sure it's a little bit uncomfortable at first, but it's like when you wear a bra it's uncomfortable at first however it shouldn't cause you pain... so if you are in pain i suggest you take it out and keep trying... relaxing isn't as easy as some people seem to make out, but you really have to try i try to look at something else when removing the tampon just take your mind off of it =] and i know it's scary growing up! but once you get in the swing of things you'll be fine!

if you are worried about wearing tampons, when you go swimming, if you are on your period just wear 2 bikinis. wear the bottoms of one bikini with a pad in it and wear the top and bottoms of another bikini, however the bikini you wear over the top have to be shorts to hide the pad. i tried it last year in florida after my cousin told me. don't forget, you don't actually bleed in water... it is onky when you get out. and i tried wearing a tampon and i found it really uncomfortable, but i am gonna keep trying til it doesn't hurt anymore! hope i helped!

i'm really worried. i'm 14 years old and i can't use a tampon. i've tried about 5 times using a mirror but it still won't go in. it looks as if there's something blocking the entrance to my vagina, or is that just a stupid thing to say. i really need some help. and don't tell me to relax because i've tried to insert one when i've been relaxed and i swear it doesn't work. some one please answer me.

tampons should not hrt to insert or remove. if they do you have either put it in wrong, or havent left it in for long enough. anybody can use tampons. anybody can use them. i used to wear pads and they felt disgusting sitting in your own blood. i started using tampons a while ago and it was the best decision i have ever made. i still use a light pad as a backup just incase but my tampons hardly ever leak. for those who find it hard telling their mother that you just got your period, im a shy girl, i actually told my mother just before she left for work and then confirmed it in a text message afew hours later. im glad i told her, she can give my advice and buy me pads and tampons when i need them. periods should not last more than about 7 days. everyone is different but you should talk to your doctor or mother to see if it is normal for you or not. your period will be irregular in the first few years. i hope i helped.

hey everybody! i have had my periods since age 12 and i am 17 now and use sports tampons that my boyfriend sends from usa. these things dont hurt. you dont even feel them! just follow the instructions. here is some help as to how to insert a tampon : 1. sit or stand in a comfortable position. some women prefer to place one leg on the toilet seat or tub, while others prefer to squat down. after you find a position that is most comfortable for you, hold the tampon with the fingers that you write with. hold the middle of the tampon, at the spot where the smaller, inner tube inserts into the larger, outer tube. make sure the string is visible and pointing away from your body. 2. with your other hand, open the labia (the folds of skin around the vaginal opening) and position the tampon in the vaginal opening. 3. gently push the tampon into the opening, aiming for the small of your back. stop when your fingers touch your body and the applicator, or outer tube, is completely inside the vagina. 4. once the applicator or outer tube is inside of you, use your index finger to push the inner tube (the tube where the removal string is visible) through the outer tube. this pushes the tampon into the vagina. 5. once the inner tube is all the way in, use your thumb and middle finger to remove the applicator or outer tube. make sure that the string hangs outside of the vaginal opening. later, when you are ready to remove the tampon, hold the string and gently pull it downward until the entire tampon is out. and the keyword here is relax!!! :) as for the hymen breaking, it is technically possible. but then even heavy exercise, cycling, etc can break your hymen! i would suggest that not be a criteria in your selection of tampons or pads. because virginity is more in the head than the hymen. :) and tss is a very very rare disease, like one in ten million! but follow the instructions on the leaflet. dont keep them in for more than 8 hours. another thing is to remember what size tampon you use. if you dont have very heavy flow, its best to use regular size. use the smallest that can be used for your flow. this reduces risk of tss.

okay, tampons arent supposed to hurt when you take them out, i've been using tampons for about 5 to 6 months now and the pads were getting on my nerves they felt like a diaper, but anyways, the tampon isn't supposed to hurt, it could be tht you're using to big of a tampon if you're a kid like 11-12 use the kid jr tampons from tampax, but if you are using a tampon and it still hurts when you take it out just relax, or to help get the tampon out try pushing with the muscles that women use to have babies when they push, do not leave in the tampon for more that 4-8 hrs or you could be at risk for tss (toxic shock syndrome). hope this helped!
