My kid is fear of darkness. Kid starts to cry. I need to teach her how to overcome this phobia. Good tips and let me try and come back.

My brother, Jack has been afraid of the dark for his whole life. When ever the lights unexpectidly go out, we always hear foot steps in the house even when the entire family is in one area. Then it gets worst, we hear moans and scratching, then when it gets too intense, I go into the attic to get lights then Jack starts screaming and saying help, but when I get down to check it out he ends up getting 3 claw marks or a knife wound. We've tried locking the entire house down, but he always get hurt. One time he even admitted that something or someone was in the house. We looked everywhere but nothing was inside the house. One night mom and dad left me in charge, for 4 hours he said something was coming for him and I think I even saw what he's been afraid of, pail, tall, veiny beings with lots of sharp teeth. What can we do to stop this horrific nightmare forever.

my daughter is 10 and has been afraid to sleep alone since she was six. if she's really tired, she has no problem lying down and going to sleep, but most of the time, she's very fearful. is this concerning at this age?
