i had forcep delivery with both my children. none of which were prem or under weight. i would like to know, as an alternative heath measure, why my children have suffered after. both needed additional help. the youngest still trying to get him to talk! is it correct that the skull plates are crushed to the a point, on a direction, so they loose ability to do normal things after as they reach toddler age? i would never recommend forcep delivery to anyone! they are bruised, will not settle at night, due to such a traumatic birth and have difficulties relating to you as they have been through so much at the time when you should be loving and holding your baby. all that happens is a complete dispreportionate loss of where you are, the pain of being cut and ripped to pieces, then your baby suffers with loss of everything because you have lost so much blood you fail to breast feed as the person performing the forcep delivery has left you bleeding for 1.5 hours !

yes, i think forceps cause a lot of damage. a friend died in her 20s because she got a brain tumor from the forceps delivery,

i had a beautiful baby girl weighing 3.75 kg delivered by forceps. everything was normal no problem with her , no bruises at all , she is now six years. i think it depends on person.

recently i gave birth to a 10 pound 9 baby boy...and yes there are some problems with forcep delivery, he had some nerve damage to start with in one arm which cleared within 48 hours. yes he was a little brusied and yes he can be some what unsettled. the alternative was a c-section and i can't stay that i would agree with them if there is another way such a forcep or suction aided delivery. there was no way i could have given a v-birth with out the forceps, his head was stuck each time i tried... so each to their own, i know it was what best for me and my son at the time, and i will happily vote for this delivery option rather than a c-section where i couldn't hold or lift my big boy, where i would need additional help 24/7...i've healed faster and enjoy the knowing i can comfort my son, without the constant handcap of the c-section...best of luck to all

id just like to say that my son was born 2 weeks ago via forcep delivery. i had no pain relief and was in agony, my son has a pea sized lump on his head and nothing more. im worried about that as most of u on here are saying your children or yourselves have had learning problems or delayed development...my son seems fine for now but in years to follow if there is anything wrong i will understand where u r coming from but please can we have so positive approaches to the forceps
