Schoolgoer's Growth and Development (6 Years, 5-Month-Old)

Schoolgoer's growth and development in the 5th month of the 6th year can be quite predictable now. Read about what you can expect at this stage of her growth and development.
If you compare the leaps and bounces of the previous years, your kid shall appear a lot more stable now. Her physical growth shall be slow now and she shall be gradually developing her skills to become like an adult.
Here are shared some guidelines that you can consider to understand what you can expect from her now. However, do not expect any strict time frame for her to mature and develop. While she shall reach some milestones before time, she shall need more time to acquire others.
Take a look at what you can expect this month from her:

Physical Developments

She is in the middle of her childhood now and may weigh around 18 to 20kgs. Her height may be around 40 to 42inches this time and you can capture her gapped tooth face now.
Her vision has too improved like an adult and you can also expect improved gross motor skills now. She shall love to jump, hop, skip and walk steadily than before. She will act smart while catching, throwing or bouncing a ball. She can now understand the difference between the right and the left. She shall develop more precise control and use her fine motor skills for every day work.
Apart from being able to dress herself, she shall also try to lace her shoes now. She shall love concentrating on a particular activity like painting a picture or developing complex towers and structures. You may also expect her to try the complicated jigsaws now.

Language and Cognitive Skill Developments

She shall be speaking very clearly now, however; she shall still have problems articulating some words. It is time when you can expect her to chatter nonstop all through the day. She can now tell her name, address and parents name when asked. She shall develop a clear understanding of big-small, fat-thin, hard-soft and so on. She shall speak in more details now and her average vocabulary can be around 5000 words. She may point at an unfamiliar object and ask what it is.
She shall also enjoy the simple jokes, songs and rhymes.
She shall be able to speak 3 letter words like "mat", "cat", "bat" fluently and so on. With improvement in her fine motor skills she shall be able to copy a picture or some words. Her drawing shall be more detailed now.
She shall develop a fair grasp of numbers and can count the number of fingers and toes she has. She can now predict an event and tell the moral of a story. She shall understand a topic you are discussing and may participate in it as well.

Emotional and Social Developments

For her, her friends are everything now. She shall be able to socialise and enter into new relations with ease now. She shall consider those outside her family important now. She shall love to engage in the pretend games, cooperate with others in a game and so on. However, you shall also be prepared for her tantrums, jealousy and sibling rivalries.

Ensuring Good Health

Outdoor activities and physical exercises are a must at this age to ensure a healthy body. Regular exercises shall reduce chances of childhood obesity that has been a growing concern these days. Those suffering from obesity at this early age shall also grow up to obese adults and develop different ailments at a very young age. Overweight children are likely to be bullied or teased at. It shall affect her self esteem and she shall find it difficult to fit herself among her peers. These in the long run are known to give rise to problems like depression and anxiety.
