Child's Growth and Development Month by Month Topics..

A 21-Month-Old Toddler's Development

21-month-old toddler is quite grown up now and will be showing own personality traits. Read on to know how you can aid in proper growth and development of your toddler.
This is the time when you can invite some friends of your toddler at home and see them play together. You may find some of them highly assertive while others may appear passive and take some more time to warm up. Your little one's personality traits are getting sharper this month. You can see her evolve into a matured person with time.
You may still find her stuck in parallel play, but you will also find her interacting with other children at play. She may have her best friend like you and may love to go along with her. If she goes to the day-care centres, she will get the chance to spend time with many other children and adults. This shall in fact help her adapt to different scenarios and with different personalities well.
Here we shall take a look at some of her growth and development you can expect in this month:

21-Month-Old Toddler’s Growth and Development

You can now think of toilet training your little one if you are tired of buying nappies for her. Some of the signs that show she is ready are discomfort with wet nappies, feelings that it is dirty, or loves to go to the toilet with you. Even if she is showing vague interests, it means her nervous system has developed to be toilet trained.
If you have planned to shift her from the crib to a bed now, you can give it a try. However, give her some time to adjust to the new setting. You need to remain calm and do not rush through the process.

Interactive Games and Play for Toddlers

You must encourage her to go out and participate in different activities with others. If she remains under stimulated and bored, she shall start whining all the more. She will also throw more temper tantrums when bored.
It is thus essential that she vents out all her pent up energies in the open. Running around and playing in a park or field are also essential for her proper growth and development.
You can also take part in some of the games to keep her going. Toys that you buy for her need not be expensive or complicated. Look for the ones that offer the perfect combination of noise, attractive colours and interaction. Toys that come with a cause and effect option are very popular among toddlers of this age. However, you cannot expect her to be gentle with the toys and thus make sure they are strong enough to bear all the experiments she tries on them.

Eating Patterns of a Toddler

Skipping breakfast is one of the worst things that you should not let happen now. Cereals with fruits, yoghurt and milk shall be a very healthy option for the whole family in fact. It is better to avoid any additional flavouring into the preparation, as she may not want to take milk without it later on.
Formula solutions meant for the toddlers only add unnecessary calories and do not do much good. So, unless you have been advised by your paediatrician, it is better to avoid such options. Feed her everything that you cook for the rest of the family. Reduce her reliance on milk and draw her more towards the solids.
You can bring attractive plates and cups for her that shall draw her interest more into eating from them. You must be near her while eating and ensure she is not choking. Developing good eating habits from this tender age shall help her follow them in her later years as well.
Wish you all the luck!
