A 15-Month-Old Toddler's Development

Read on to learn about the developments which you can expect in your 15-month-old toddler.

Just as you are excited to see your little one grow, your toddler too is ecstatic exploring her new found skills and capabilities. Your child shall be busy struggling with freedom and attachment now. You may find yourself busy teaching her the self control measures, so that she quickly learns her limits.

Here we shall help you take a closer look at the other developments that you can expect in your toddler this month:

Toddler’s Growth and Development:

Your little one has now fairly grasped the skill of walking, though she may look for supports while taking her tiny little steps. You must offer her the necessary scope to walk and make sure she does not spend most of the times in the cot or her pram. Carrying her in a back pack is also not a good idea as letting her walk.

Apart from walking, she shall also be able to play with toys like building blocks. You can expect her to place around 3-4 blocks one over the other now. You shall see her delighted, when she successfully completes a game and you shall also find her thrashing things when she is unsuccessful.

Some of the other games that she shall love doing are opening the refrigerator, mopping the floor or trying to replicate and mimic you.

If she has flat foot, the arch will start developing as and when she starts mastering her walking skills. You need to wait till she turns 4 to see the final arch. Again, you must not be concerned to see her small fingers and puffy hands. She will take some time to develop her ligaments and muscles and her body shall undergo all the necessary changes.

Interactive Games and Playtime

This is the time when you can give her the crayons and finger paints to keep her engaged. This shall also help her learn to concentrate and sit in one place. Toddlers love the whole concept of finger painting. However, make sure that you toddler does not put her fingers in mouth or use edible colours like tomato ketchup and sauce.

You can take her to a park and encourage her to climb the different arrangements there. But make sure that she is safe and does not get hurt. She shall be thrilled exploring the new games. You can show her the ways to scale a ladder, climb a fence or ride the swings safely.

She shall love the rotating toys now. There is really no need to invest huge amounts on toys. Keep the games fun and simple, so that she loves repeating them. Your toddler shall be attracted towards toys that make lot of noise and have attractive colours.

Eating Patterns of a Toddler

Your child is now capable of eating all that you have for meals. There is no need to cook anything boiled or mashed for her anymore. However, make sure that she can easily eat what you provide to prevent choking hazard. Avoid giving foods which are very spicy or can cause choking hazard. Fruits, veggies, chicken, meat, pasta, soups, rice, bread, cereals shall now comprise her diet. Since it may not be possible for you to ensure she takes all of them in a day, make sure she takes them all at least through the week.

Your attitude towards food and eating habits shall go a long way in shaping her eating patterns down the line. Allow her to sit on the dinner table with you and enjoy the meal with the family.

Snacks should not mean junks. Nutritious snacks like fruits, cereal bars or packed biscuits are healthy options that you must encourage him to take. Sandwiches, crackers and cheese are some other options that you can provide.

Parenting your 16 months old may appear tougher than before. However, do not despair, as you shall soon devise the strategies that keep him under your control. Taking care of your little one shall be a wonderful journey that you shall cherish all through t5he rest of your life.
