Many of you might think that if you wait, the time is perhaps going to come very late. However, this is not true. There are signs that will tell you when your child is ready to take the challenge.
Signs Your Child is Ready to Ditch Diapers
Here are some
signs indicating that your child is ready for potty training.
First Sign
If your child stays dry for at least two hours during the day, it is a sign that she has
control on her bladder and she is ready for potty training now. Even if you find that sometimes the diaper is slightly wet, it is okay because your child is learning to have control.
Second Sign
If you find that your child’s diaper is dry in the morning or after a nap in the noon, it means that your child can control and urinate one time rather than frequent peeing.
Third Sign
If you will watch your child you will find that she becomes restless when she feels like urinating or doing potty. It is possible that she will try to go in corner or where she is not seen by people. You will also notice that she is sitting in a squat position. This is the time when you can take her to the toilet and start training her how to use it.
Fourth Sign
Your child might start undressing or give some kind of indication when she needs to go for potty.
Once you have determined that your child is ready to ditch the diapers, you should be aware of the fact that she might wet her underwear sometime or another. Do not expect any overnight change because she still needs to be trained. It is possible that your child might not pay attention to her physical signs when she is engrossed playing. So, make sure you stay alert and look out for the signs even after you have started
potty training your child.
Other Signs of Preparedness
If your child understand and follows simple instructions, you can start potty training her. For this you need to talk to your child often and find out whether she understands what you say or not. Only when she will identify things and
behaviour, she will be able to follow your instructions.
One of the best ways to promote your child’s readiness to use the toilet is to appreciate even her small moves. You can also watch out for the signs which many children give when they are in wet diapers. Most children start disliking the feeling of dampness and as soon as you see that you can start instructing him in the way he understands and tracks.
However, if you begin the training and you find that your child is not comfortable with it or is refusing to follow your instructions, you can wait for some time. Perhaps she is not completely ready for the training. Pushing hard or being strict might worsen the situation and might also affect your child’s entire personality afterwards. So, it is advisable to wait for few more months so that the training session is accepted by your child completely.
