Speech Therapy Success Story

This is an email written to a Speech Therapist by an individual who could cope successfully with speech and hearing problem with right treatment. This email is an example of how early intervention can help child to cope with speech and hearing problems successfully.
Respected Sanghi Madam,

How are you ? Hope you are fine.
I went to Nair for programming of my new Naida hearing aids. I visited your room and inquired about you. Mother told me that you have retired but sometimes you will be coming to Nair so I was expecting to meet you.
I do not remember clearly but 4th STD onwards every Saturday morning I spent at Nair for many years. I had taken not only speech training but also developed my language. Today what I am, I owe to the Nair family especially you. You helped me so much. Be it analysis of hearing aids, audio-gram, checking of the ears, you always helped and guided me.
I reached RIT on 24th of August and 29th & 30th was my orientation. I got accommodation on campus on 1st September. College lectures have started from 6th. The classes are going good.
The support system they are providing is of great help. Right from the orientation day, I received real time captioning ["C print"] access service. The notes that are given in real time are saved and I can refer them later as per my convenience.
People here are very co-operative. They speak very slowly and write it down on a piece of paper if I do not understand them. I am finding it little difficult to follow American pronunciation. Many deaf people here can not talk. They sign.
Here, I do not find any discrimination between normal and deaf. In fact, many normal people learn sign language in order to communicate with deaf. I will be learning American Sign Language, ASL in the next quarter.
Here, life is bit hectic due to face paced quarter system. I try to manage all stuff and my job experience is helping me to cope up easier.
Keep in touch.
Regards,
Divin
