In the 7 months to 1 year

A lot of developments can be expected in a child during her first year of growth and development. Let us take a look at the developments that take place in a child between 7 months to a year.
Growth and development take place in children rapidly. Time just flies and you may not even realise when they grow-up. Below mentioned are the developments that take place in children between 7 to 12 months of their age.

Child’s Development Between 7 to 12 Months

Have a quick look at the month-by-month development of a child between 7 to 12 months.

Seven Months

Your baby will now be able to recognise other people in your family apart from you and your spouse. By this month she will master the skill of rolling from back to stomach and from the stomach to back on her own. Therefore, you need to be very careful. Do not leave her unattended on bed or on the changing table as the risk of falling is very high.

Eight Months

She will know her name and will understand the concept of "no." She will try to attract your attention by making little sounds.

Nine Months

She will exhibit a will of her own and may try to stop you from doing something that causes her discomfort, like wiping her face, for instance. She will display an absorption in toys and games. She will lift up a cloth under which an object is hidden.

Ten Months

She will be able to clap her hands and wave goodbye. She will also show that she understands a small number of words and very short, simple statements.

Eleven Months

She will enjoy games like "peek-a-boo" and dropping things and having you pick them up. She will be fascinated by sound and will want to shake, rattle and bang objects.

Twelve Months

She will derive great pleasure in making you laugh and will do things that amuse you repeatedly. She will enjoy looking at books with you and will even try to help you undress her by lifting her hands. She will have learned a few simple words like bat, ball and bath.

How to Aid Your Baby’s Growth and Development

The first year is a very important year of growth and development in babies. Parents can do a lot of things to aid their baby’s growth and development. Listed below are few things that parents can do to encourage growth milestones in babies.

Talking

It is very important to talk to babies. Not only talking but also singing songs, telling stories, reading aloud etc; can help to boost speech and brain development in babies. They learn to talk early if they are constantly exposed to new words, sounds, music etc.

Playing

Playing with them is equally important. Parents must spend adequate time playing with their babies. Simple games like peek-a-book can help a lot in stimulating their senses. The co-ordination between various sensory organs is encouraged when parents play with their babies. Spending such time with babies also help in improving parent-child bonding.

Getting Age-Appropriate Toys

Toys play a very crucial role during the growth years of babies. Different types of toys are available today in market. They are available in various forms, shapes, textures, sizes etc. Such toys help in improving the motor skills of babies. You can get toys like building blocks, musical toys, balls, play gyms, bath toys, shape sorters, staking toys etc; for your little bundle of joy during 7 to 12 months of her development.

Feeding Right

Babies need adequate nutrition during their growth years. Along with solids, you can also continue breastfeeding your baby during 7 to 12 months of her development. You must include fresh fruits and vegetables in her diet. Traditional Indian baby foods like Moong Dal Khichdi, semolina porridge, Ragi porridge etc; are also very nutritious for her healthy growth.
You must track the growth milestones of your baby properly. All babies are unique and they grow at their own pace. If you come across any concerns related to your baby’s growth do not hesitate to bring it to the notice of your doctor.
