The heartthrob of the nation - Hrithik Roshan, wears many hats. Apart from being a superstar, an exceptional dancer and a successful entrepreneur, he is a doting father as well. Read on to know Hrithik Roshan’s parenting mantras and how he manages to spend time with his kids despite his busy schedule. Hrithik Roshan comes from a long line of Bollywood personalities. His father is yesteryear actor and present day film director Rakesh Roshan, who himself is the son of a music director; and his mother, Pinky, is the daughter of producer – director J. Om Prakash. Hrithik’s uncle Rajesh Roshan is a music director as well. Hrithik is married to his childhood sweetheart Suzanne Khan, an acclaimed interior decorator and entrepreneur herself, who is also the daughter of a film personality, actor Sanjay Khan.
Considering that both Hrithik and Suzanne have been brought up in filmi households, they are used to the pressures and stress associated with being in the limelight. It is no wonder then, that they are able to manage their individual celebrity status and work, without compromising on the upbringing of their two sons Hridaan and Hrehaan, aged six and four.
Because he does not want to miss out on their growing years, Hrithik leaves no opportunity to spend time with his sons. By the time Hrithik gets back from his shoots, his kids are busy with school and other classes, therefore he tries to spend time with his sons before he leaves for his shoots. When home, Hrithik finishes his daily exercise regime by the time his kids wake up from their afternoon nap so that he can relax and spend quality time with both his children.
Hrithik likes to pamper his kids but at the same time he changes roles with elan and can behave as their friend or as an equal, depending on what his children need him to be in different situations. They are encouraged to make their own choices. As parents, the star couple have been forced to be very careful with what they say and how they say it, because their kids tend to repeat random words back at the most unfortunate times. They believe in raising their children to have a strong value system, and do not believe in enforcing career choices on their kids. They wish to allow their kids a free hand in choosing their own careers when they are old enough to make the choice on their own.
Activities with Kids
When in the city, Hrithik is like any father who takes his children for kids’ thriller movies. The only difference being, that because of his celebrity status, Hrithik take his kids for movie premieres like Spy Kids and Spiderman, instead of just catching any show playing in a nearby cinema hall. He also loves reading to them and watching fun movies at home.
His kids love to dance just like their father and they often wait for their father to get home early so that they can dance with him. His children enjoy spending time with their father so much so that, the kids dress up as Superman and Batman while Hrithik dresses up as the villain and they dance and play together. This is when Suzanne has to force them to stop the music and sit down for dinner.
Holidaying with Kids
A hands-on father, Hrithik loves to jet off with his family for holidays, especially to US, Thailand, Singapore, Maldives and London for their yearly breaks. He loves to indulge his children with water sports such as snorkelling. The doting father likes to teach things to his kids during holidays and believes that he gets to learn a lot from his little angels in the process. He believes that a person can learn something new at any stage of life and sometimes it is innocent children who contribute to the learning process in a big way.
In an interview to the press, Hrithik had once mentioned that, “My sons are undoubtedly the most important thing in my life. I have come to understand that fatherhood is probably the best thing that has happened to me. A smile from my children gives me the energy to work harder.”
Religious upbringing of Hrithik’s kids
Hrithik is a Hindu, and Suzanne is the daughter of Muslim father and Parsi mother. Their religious differences have never caused a rift of any sort because of Suzanne’s liberal outlook. She celebrates and observes all religions. She observes the Ganpati festival with the entire Roshan clan and even goes for the Visarjan with the entire Roshan family in tow. Hrithik and Suzanne do not believe on enforcing any one religion upon their children.
As Suzanne once said, “My parents brought me up with a strong sense of humanity as the biggest religion. The only thing they taught me was to be nice to people and to remain grounded...For me, it was so easy to absorb all the three religions - whether it is Islam, Hinduism or Zoroastrianism - they are all beautiful religions and there is so much to learn from each.” Hence, Hrithik and Suzanne celebrate all festivals with equal fervour and have decided to leave the choice of choosing and following a religion up to their kids, once they are old enough to make an informed choice.
Role of Suzanne Roshan
When Hrithik is away for his shoots, it is his wife Suzanne who looks after the kids, from dropping and fetching them from school to feeding them exotic delicacies or taking them on picnics and children’s birthday parties. Despite being a working mother, neither her children nor her work suffers from lack of attention on her part. Not only has she decorated the interiors of many a Bollywood celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra and Rani Mukherjee, her entrepreneurial ventures, Suzzane Roshan’s House of Design and The Charcoal Project, are extremely successful.
What with running such an enterprising venture, and raising two boisterous young boys, one may wonder where she gets the time to stay in such tiptop shape. But she states that, “I am a very hardworking mother and my kids keep me fit...the most difficult thing in this world is to be a working mother... “It means that you are always on the go and that I think keeps me fit and motivated.”
Special Bond between Hrithik and His Kids
Recently, when Hrithik was unwell and had to undergo brain surgery, his kids could not see him at the hospital. He was missing his kids terribly and his kids made him get well soon card to be handed over to their father via their mother. In response to which, an emotional Hrithik wrote a beautiful short poem for his sons and shared both the card and the poem showcasing his love for his children on a popular social networking site. We surely believe that Hrithik Roshan is the perfect family man and needless to say, his two kids mean the world to him.
