Due Date Club July 2008:breast feeding issue

Hello All,
I am having problem keeping my son awake while breast feeding. He is 6wks old and as soon he come to the breast, he suckles for 5 minutes and will sleep...I have tried everything [talking, stroking, changing diaper, wiping his face with damp cloth] to keep him awake while feeding but he just won' t take the breast. How are your babies doing ? do they also sleep ? any suggestions on keeping baby awake while breast feeding?
Thanks,
Ishi

As far as I know,Pumping is good.It will simulate the supply of milk.My Pediatrician told the milk which will come at first is having less nutrition, when compared to hind milk...
We had an apt at sep26th...she is getting shots on that day n she is having hip ultrasound also on same day....
How is Aditya doing???very nice name....
My little one(Sanjana)she will have sound sleep at mrng from 10:30 -1:30...
from then onwards she wont sleep...she will get sleep....but some how...she wont sleep, she will cry sometimes and she will play like 1hr...or else she will be crying...
how abt aditya at sleeping pattern?
take care
bye

How is he feeling right now?
They will love when we hold them.sometimes i will also wake her down to feed.
Doctor told it was routine checkup. To make sure everything was norml.I heard for vaginal delivery babies will have hip ultrasound.Hope everything will be alright.
Give my warm kisses to Aditya...
Take care Ishi....

Aditya got his first set of vaccines day before yesterday, he ran into mild fever but is feeling OK now. He does not sleep that much in the day, yes he also also plays for 1hr and then start crying. I then hold him in my lap talk to him and then feed him again.,. I am feeding him every 3 hrs. However, he sleeps through the night, in fact I have to wake him up for the feeding.
Why is Sanjana having hip ultrasound? is it part of routine check-up? hope everything goes fine...luv to baby and take care,
Ishi

Hi Siri,
I glad to know that my son is not the only one who sleeps :)) I also feed him all the time, nearly every hour....but I also started pumping milk because he did not empty my breast ..I don´ t know if pumping is a good idea, as it stimulates over supply of milk...anyways...my son, Aditya is doing good, he has his 6wk doctor appointment this week, we will find out how much weight he has gained. Did your daughter get shots yet??
Take care of yourself and your daughter
keep in touch
Ishi
