Name: Editor Have you vacationed in Delhi? How was your experience? Do you think Delhi needs to be promoted more as a tourist destination? What other destinations need to be promoted for tourism in India?

I am from Delhi, but don' t seem to shar emany of the sentiments echoed in this forum. I think of Delhi as a corpulent, boring city that reflects the politicans who it is filled with.

I agree with Sanjay: conservative, bourgoise, stodgy, pretentious, are adjectives I´ d use for Delhi. This leaks from the mindset into the physical aspects of the city too!

I am from Mumbai and have travelled through the other metros and towns in India. While Chennail, Calcutta, and Mumbai all have their history, it is only in Delhi that there seems to be the charming, in a way brooding, reminder of past history surrounding one. I like this about Delhi.

Somebody once told me Delhi is a city of tombs. On one side you have tombs like Safdarjung and Humayun and on the other side you have all those Samadhis. A true city of death in a sense. Delhi is developing and becoming day by day. While other cities are degressing and becoming filthy Delhi has already been there and is cleaning up and ensuring it stays clean. Would be nice to see Mumbai and Chennai along with others following suit soon

I think there are worse places in summer. At least it is a dry heat. In mumbai its so humid. Delhi is a bit like hyderabad with a good air cooler it will be easy to keep your cool no matter how hot it gets.

I love Delhi, its one of those places that you really feel the seasons. The winters are so cold that you wrap yourself up in layers and use things like hot water bottles to keep you warm.

Subject:  Delhi is terrible in winter
I think Delhi is terrible in winter. Its foggy or smoggy in the morning. School children have to go to school in freezing cold. And if your child happens to have a class room on the ground floor of a multi storeyed building then you can rest assured that her teeth will literally start chattering if she isnt dressed warmly enough. I think Delhi in winter isn´ t an ideal tourist place. Ideal time to visit is when winter is passing on just before the heat of summer.

Subject:  Delhi Visits
I' ve visited Delhi. There are a lot of things to do in Delhi, but the places to see are quite spread out. Its nice if you have friends or someone to take you around. The markets in Delhi are amazing and the city is well planned out compared to some other busy metros that I' ve lived in and visited.

Stayed here May/Jun 2005. Ideal location for us. Room more than adequate as we took our 9 year old grandson. The breakfasts were plentiful and set us up well until lunchtime.
