Manoj,
ask your wise to be little sensible and avoid fasting w/o water. Being 5th month pregnant,Even I am goin to keep fast tomorrow for teej, but m goin to take lot of fruits, fluids and fillers all day. Nothing is more important at this time than the baby.
Specially, you should take utmost care during first trimester. Hope, you will be able to convince ur wife to not to punish her baby.

Subject:  Fasting during pregnancy is a big NO NO
I would not recommend fasting during pregnancy. I believe in god and observe fast on some occasions like Ganesh chaturthi and Ekadashi. I also fast on Saturdays. I go to temple once in a week. I am a devotee of lord Ganesha and Hanuman. Though I am a man, I do not agree with those who believe that fasting during pregnancy is okay. It is not okay. There can be many bad effects of fasting on your baby. Fasting could lead to premature birth, lower birth weight, and such other difficulties in the wrong run. In extreme cases it could lead to certain deformities in the baby.

Subject:  baby will starve too
You can avoid fasting on any religious occasion if you are pregnant. Come on! What is more important than the health of your baby? Lord will instead bless you that you did not fast as you care for your unborn child. God will not be angry on you if you will not fast. If you are still in dilemma whether to fast or not then go and seek an advice of your doctor. Get the medical note saying that you should fast or you should not fast. You have to eat during pregnancy as your baby shares whatever you eat. You are the only source of the nutrition to your baby. Remember your baby will starve along with you and that can be dangerous for the health of the fetus.

Subject:  depends on the situation
I am Muslim and I fast during the month of Ramadan. I feel highly spiritual when I observe fast. But it also depends on the situation. You should have a word with your doctor and should make all the things clear. If your doctor is saying that you can start fasting, then you should. On the other hand if he is saying that you should not fast, then you should not. Islam allows you to skip the fast if you are in advance stage of pregnancy. But be sure that you complete fast later. Inshallah you will be rewarded with a healthy and beautiful baby.
