hi happy,

i think the contractions you r getting are false labour contractions or Braxton Hicks contractions. Some will experience this before the original labor begins. When you lie down or walk or drink some water, these contracts subsides. The real contractions are those which gets intense as it progresses and the pain felt will be more. If you get contractions in every 5 -10 mins for 30secs to 1 min for the whole 1 hr and if the time gap between the contractions decreases wherein the length of the contraction increases, you are in labour.

All the best,
Jichi
