Hi srs777,
I guess I ovulated yesterday, because I had terrible cramp in my lower abdomen. I think that is one more sign that ovulation is taking place. As I told you we didn't try for baby, so we had a great time yesterday. I think it is all in our mind. We started our trials in jul-03, right from that time we didn't have sex for enjoyment. We just felt it as a pressure. But this month we decided not to think about the baby, but to have fun. Yesterday we had a very nice time together....Let us see what happens. Best wishes.....

Hi there,
I can totally understand your situation but i think it is so important to be calm. It does help so much.
Just like your case, we have been trying to conceive since June 03 onwards. Its been 6 months. In October, I thought I conceived as my due date was on 3rd Oct and I didn't get my chums. (I have very regular 28 days cycle) ! I was thrilled. Home pregnancy test was negative though. I prayed and hoped for it to be true, but I got my chums on 13th Oct. 10 days late !!!!!! Am 29, have been married for 5 years. We are trying for our 1st baby now. I do feel terrible. I dream of babies... but I am trying to be very optimistic. Hey I also noticed this month, I was ovulating on the 18th day, today is the 20th day and I am still ovulating. So this 14 day thing is quite a farce. Every woman's body is different. I have spent a lot of money in buying ovulation kits but it didn't help. So I now just keep track of my mucus. I keep checking it. And the best time is when it is very sticky and stretchy. It can stretch upto inches!!! Anyways. I wish you all the best. Do keep in touch. Cheers :-)

Ya, just chill out and enjoy the time that you are getting to spend with your husband.

There's only this much that we can do. And all this information is really the basics on pregnancy. Knowing these basics is really great, but after that we just have to leave things in God's hands and let nature take its course.

I am praying for you too and everybody else whoever is sailing in the same boat as ours :-)
Cheers :-)

I have been lying down in bed for 30 minutes after making love. I feel so much better after reading your note and your asusrance that it is okay for the semen to come back out. That was worrying me somewhat.. i guess we just have to be patient now and hope for the best. Iam definately praying for you!!!.

Hi srs777,

Hey no problem at all, infact I am glad this info is useful to you. Its very important to know about your own body. Isn't it amazing, the nature and GOD? Sometimes I really feel conception is only a miracle of GOD. It has to be that perfect moment, when a life is conceived in a womb.

Ya, about the semen, the only reason it comes out of the vagina, is that it was inside. And it just takes seconds for the sperm to travel. As soon as the sperm is realeased, it travels in your cervix. SO its aboslutely normal for it to come out. SO don't worry. It happens to every woman. Ya, but after you make love, you can lie down on your bed with a pillow under your hips, so that your hips are elevated. WHether you use the pillow or not, u must not get up from the bed for atleast 15-20 minutes after your intercourse.

Ya, we are trying for our first baby, after 5 years of marriage. We live in Toronto, Canada.

I'll definately keep in touch. So must you :-)

Take care & all the best.

hi cuteolme,
Wow... this is all so very informtive. I did not know any of this.. thank you so much for taking the time in helping me out. So just because semen comes out of my vagina after making love, it does not mean that all of it came out .. is that correct? I absolutely freak out when I notice that some of it has come out.
You have really done a lot of research.. that is great. So will this be your first baby? Do you live in the states.. i live in the states. My husband and i are trying for our first baby after 4 yrs of marriage.
Please continue keeping in touch:).

Hiiiii srs 777,

Ya, it does help if you have the correct information. And in ealier ages, the only source of such information was doctors, and women used to be so embarrased even to talk about all this to the doctors. So we had to rely only on outer sources for such info. THANK GOD for INTERNET :-).

Let me tell you what exactly ovulation is. See, Ovulation is the release of a single, mature egg from a follicle that is developed in the ovary. It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. But this fertility period differs from woman to woman. Once released, the egg is capable of being fertilized for 12 to 48 hours before it begins to disintegrate. This is the most fertile period of your cycle: during ovulation, your chances of conception are highest.

So when you see the transparent slippery mucus, this period is your MOST FERTILE PERIOD.
Your fertile period starts about 4-5 days before OVULATION, and ends about 24-48 hours after it. This is because sperm can live in your body for approximately 4 to 5 days, and the egg can live for 24 to 48 hours after being released. You are most fertile on the day before and the day of ovulation. So it is very important to know your FERTILE PERIOD so that you make love during this ovulation period. Knowing your fertile days can help you increase your chances of getting pregnant.

Another thing about the sperm, It is common for some semen to come out of the vagina after intercourse and this does not usually indicate that there is any problem.
Women worry that because semen often comes out of the vagina after sex, there won't be enough sperm left inside to fertilize the egg. Amazingly, sperm are already in the cervix moments after ejaculation.

Also, Don't use any lubricants if u are trying to conceive. Infact, lubricants, vaseline, creams, even your own saliva kills the sperms. Lubricant impairs your ability to conceive. Your natural lubricant is your cervical mucus during your fertile period. SO if you are making love during this period, you won't need any lubricant. You already will be very wet inside your vagina.

I hope this info helps you. Earlier when I was not aware of all this, I really spent lot of money on buying OVulation Predictor Kits. It was a real waste.
But when I started reading books on pregnancy, I realised that the best way to find out your fertile period is by keeping a check on your mucus.

ANyways, all the very best.
Do write soon,
Cuteolme

Hi Cuteolme,
Thank you so much for taking the tiem in writing all the details of this process.. i know it must take you time. It really is nice for you to share this research that you have done and i find it extremely helpful. I did not know much about ths mucus detection and all until getting on this site.. now i know what to physically look for. I think i have been ovulating yesterday and day before (8th and 9th) and have been trying so let us see if it has been successful.. only time will tell.
Cuteolme.. let me ask you another question.. when you are ovulating.. how long does the ovulation process lasts for .. is it 24 hrs or less? We usually do it at the night but i wonder if ovulation is still occuring at that time.
Also ... when we do it, not all of the sperms stay in..... after making love, i find some of it comes out and my undergarments are wet... does that mean that we were not successful.. iget so worried when i notice that some of it has come out?? I hope these are not silly questions.... please help.

Hi srs 777,
In order to get pregnant, i have done a lot of research on pregnancy, thats why I have all this information. I hope this info is of good use to us. I mentioned this to some one on this website, Don't use lubricants if u are trying to conceive. Infact, lubricants, vaseline, creams, even your own saliva kills the sperms. Lubricant impairs your ability to conceive.

Your natural lubricant is your cervical mucus. This is one way to keep track of your fertility period. There are many different types of vaginal discharge, one of which is cervical mucus. The type of mucus your body produces provides clues to your fertility. You can check your cervical mucus using either your fingers or toilet paper. On days when you're not fertile, the mucus from your cervix is either light or sticky (about the same texture as sticky rice). During the few days leading up to ovulation, when you're most fertile, you'll have more discharge - clear and slippery with the consistency of raw egg white. It should also be stretchy. You are most fertile on the last day you notice mucus of this kind. It usually happens either the day before, or the day of, ovulation. These are the days when you should make love every alternate days inorder to get pregnant.

The change in volume and texture of your mucus is due to the increase in estrogen levels that accompanies ovulation. After ovulation, progesterone abruptly suppresses the peak mucus and the mucus pattern continues with sticky mucus for a day or two, and then returns to dryness.
