Hi Deepa,
To relieve from cold and cough consult Homeopahtic doctor. Homeopathic medicines have no side effects and they are advisable during pregnancy. Tell your homeopathic doctor that u r pregnant. Homepathic medicines are also useful to relieve any problems that occur during pregnancy and can make your pregnancy easy.
I had same problem of cold and cough but i was completely cure with in two days by taking homeopathic medicines and never suffered again. Also my gynec suggested me that homeopathic medicines are safer during pregnancy.
Take care !

Deepa,

I had a case of the flu during my 20th week. (I am also a kidney transplant patient with a low immune system, so my doctors and I were really worried.)

The doctors were most concerned about compromised lung function. You need to be sure to report shortness of breath or difficult breathing to your ob/gyn immediately. They can bring you in for a quick listen and pulse/ox reading to check the level of oxygen in your blood.

As for me, I couldn' t take any medication to relieve my symptoms because I was on so much for my transplant and other issues. I used a mentholated/eucalyptus chest rub, a heated vaporizer and sucked on mentholated cough drops instead. Also drinking orange juice (anything with vitamin C) can help boost your immune system. Taking a really warm steamy shower might help you cough up some of the mucous from your throat/chest as well.

I pray your health improves and that you and your baby are safe and healthy...

Jeanna
