Health Issues:Being Skinny
2013-05-06
Name: Rubina Sayal

My son is 7 years old and quite an active kid. He is also into sports. His height is normal but he is very skinny. He does not seem to put on weight. He is also not a very big eater. He eats small meals at a time, but he is quite energetic. I do not think he has any health problems. I would like him to gin some weight. Please suggest some ways.

Hi rubina, If our son is healthy and active, then you need not worry. Gradually you can help him gain weight. You have to take care of his nutrition. Healthy foods will help him gain weight. When an increase in height precedes a gain in weight, your child may appear underweight for a while, until his weight gain catches up.plan healthy, calorie-dense meals and snacks for your child so he gets enough to eat.don' t feed your child junk food in an effort to promote weight gain. Make mealtimes pleasant and unrushed. He needs to be eating frequently if you want him to gain weight.

RE:Consticipation for 4 years old
This is an old thread but one thing no-one said was that exercise is important for gut motility. All the green veg and pear juice will be limited in their effectiveness if the kid isn't very physically active (just walking more and driving less helps!)
Also, my usual comment - use a child-size glycerin suppository if he's gone for two or more days without doing a do.... - Suzanne [View Message]
