It’s a very nice idea of celebrating festivals other than one’s own community. It promotes love and brotherhood. Vasanth Navratri is commonly known as Ram Navratri as Ram Navami falls on the ninth day of Chaitra. It is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. Fasting during Navratri helps find happiness on Earth and attain moksha.

Subject:  Ram Navami in south India
I am very happy to know that you want to observe nine day Ram Navratri fast and perform ‘kanya pujan’. In South India, Ram Navami is celebrated in a different way. On this day, we perform the marriage ceremony with small idols of Rama and Sita and then deities are taken in a procession. A special sweet drink is prepared with jaggery and pepper. It is an ethereal feeling.

I am quite fascinated with Navratri festival. I like the concept of ‘kanya pujan’. I am a South Indian but I would like to observe the nine day fast and perform ‘kanya pujan’. Could anyone tell me how is it done and what is Vasanth Navratri? To whom is this festival dedicated?
