Articles:Does Your Child Watch Too Much TV?

Name: Editor There was a time when homework was given first priority, and everything else followed. However, nowadays it seems that the only time children do their homework is when nothing good is coming on television or, of course, when parents hang the Damocles sword on their head.

Television is affecting sleep, studies, mealtimes. If your child's favourite programme is on, she will only go to bed when it gets over. The 'trash' that might affect young, impressionable minds gives parents sleepless nights.

Hi,

I would like to continue with Anjum practice. I was doing the same to my kid when he was 5 years old. Now he has grown up to 7 years, he understands how tv works and where does the signal comes from. At the same time he also understood mom doesn' t want him to watch TV in the morning before going to school. Programs & time to watch TV are set. If he has to watch a new program he also knows he should compensate with another program.

It may not be so easy to tune them this was initially but once it is done, we don' t have to remind them they feel very responsible. TRY IT OUT.

try replacing tv with books, rent as many books as possible with lots of picture stories for the younger ones. they will develop the habit of reading books instead of watching tv. also try setting examples. people around children should always read and write a lot. so the children get into the habit of reading. if your child disobeys your instructions, take a piece of paper and write what you expected your child to do and what the child is doing. this helps them understand that you are serious and also cultivates a habit of reading. i tried it with my daughter and it worked.
tv just curtails the children's imagination while books just takes their imagination to a levels that cannot be explained. books are the best way to make our child have life-long enthusiastic learners.
