Hi parents,

I am very concerned that our baby boy has not gain sufficient weight over the last 6 months. What disturbs me is that in the my boy was 3.2 kg when born.First 3 months he gained weight quite rapidly, But in the last several months he is not gaining much. As his birth date is 18th May 2011. After completion of 9 months he is only 7.2 kgs. Since the Baby looks healthy and happy. He started sitting now. and all the activities are normal.I am breast feeding and also introduced solid food. like mashed rice,potatoes, lentils etc. but still he is not gaining weight..
Please do help me out of this situation as i am worried.

Hi Saji. Did you consult your child’s pediatrician about his gain? Doctors have this chart about weight in relation to birth at weight and age. If his weight is just right for his age in accordance to his birth weight then there is no need to worry. Also, if he is on track with the stages of development, he should be fine. Also, breastfeed babies are not more likely to gain too much weight, which is a good thing so as to prevent obesity. Just make sure that the baby is not sickly.
