C-Section:have a question
2008-04-04
Name: simi i was indused 2 days after my duedate. they induced me in the morning at 8 am i started geting contracions and it was hard, but as dr. said i did not dilute more then 3 cm till 5pm , in the evening, so he suggested c-section within two hr.

my question is , dr. should have waited for couple of more hr. to see the dilution process or he was right to do the c-section.

pls make my doughts clear

your doctor was right, would you have liked a dead baby instead?
And its ' induced' and ' dilated' . If he hadnt done the c-section, your child would have died in your womb due to hypoxia, or his brain would have been crushed due to your tiny pelvis, or you both would have suffered.

Think twice before you accuse a doctor of doing the right thing. Be glad you have had a safe delivery.
In my opinion, he should have done the c-section more earlier.

Mili, it seems you have an allergy to doctors.
Yes LOGIC is very logical. I am a doctor too, seen and handled many deliveries. What LOGIC says is absolutely true.
So it seems Logic isnt stupid, but YOU ARE. And why do you have a problem with LOGIC? are you illogical?
And Yes LOGIC is a doctor, unlike a useless person like you who goes around asking weird questions.

Tell me one single thing that is illogical in LOGIC´ s post. Go ahead, i challenge you.

If a C-section isnt done in time, your baby will die because of lack of oxygen.
Once the amniotic fluid is gone, there is no environment for the baby, it has to come out, or it will die due o hypoxia.

The doctor is absolutely right in doing C-section. This is the most common thing, a doctor doesnt even think twice about this.

1st thing u were indused after ur due date pls remember that...
also in inducing cases contractions r ususally v strong and mind u ur doc waited almost 9 hrs and as u were nt opening there ws a chance of baby being in distress..and baby in distress may lead to meconium passing, lowered heart beat which may lead to fetal death and to avoid such complication ur doc took this decision..in hindsight would u had felt good if anything of this sort happened because i have seen many such cases happening where baby passes his 1st stool and inhaled it and nothing could b done
usually doc dont wait beyond 8 hrs its a risk for both mother and baby

true doc cheat us here at times but all is good in us is also nt fine ..
if u u know they have insurance coverage where they have to answer rigorous questions hence any lapse on their part can lead to a loss of practicing liscence...and they too have their lapse where by going through forced normal labour they have caused fetal death in the canal...
my sister ws induced and ws in labr for 12 hrs and nothing happened and hence she ws operated ...
very normal preg at times dont open up my friend in india 1st preg she diatlated without anything in flat 2 hrs time and deliverd in the next hr so what will u say this..
i feel it is unfair to doubt because doc dont take risk after the 8 hrs gap goes fear being inhalation of meconium mainly ...but if u feel that way spk to ur doc

RE:C-Section
C-sections are planned when the mother wishes to escape the labor pain or in emergencies like if the cord is entangled around the baby's neck and the baby's life is at risk. But i think natural delivery is always a better option.... - Neeta [View Message]
