Hi,

Could someone please give me the recipe for the lovely Indian sweet (yellow in color,
square chunks, with holes in it and hard)?It is my favorite, I am not sure what it's called.

I guess what you are asking is for Mysore pak.
Its yellow, squre and with holes too.
Its made with Basan(chick pea) flour, ghee and sugar.
You take
1.1 cup of basan,
2.2 cups of sugar and
3.2 cups of ghree(clarified butter). Add just enough water to cover the suger and boil it till they dissolve.
Once the syrup starts boiling you add the flour slowly and mix with a spoon simultaniously so that it does not form lumps. (To avoid lumps to the flour, I often add little water to the flour before putting into the syrup. but it might take more time for making the pak since you need to boil.) Now you add ghee and boil and make sure it does not stick to the Kadhai. To test if its done, add a drop of mixture in to a cup of water. If it forms small ball, its ready. Now set it on a well greased plate and cool it in room temp. You can make mark to cut them while you cool so that it's easier to cut once they are hard. You can also add one extra cup of ghree if you want it to be very soft. hope it helps

Subject:  The Recipe for Mysore Pak



Besan flour - 1 cup
ghee - half cup
sugar - 1 cup
cardamom powder – 1 tps

Make a sugar syrup till it becomes thick (if we put a little syrup in little water then it becomes round) after that put the besan mixture in sugar syrup & stir it. In between you can add little bit of ghee and put cardamom powder till it does not stick to the sides of the vessel. Then put this in a greased plate & cut this into pieces in the shape of diamonds.[ when it is hot only.]
