Shy Kids:should playschool have a syllabus?
2000-12-15
Name: natasha I am puzzled about the way playschools function. My child goes to a playschool where they just eat the tiffin, sing songs etc. Shld there by something more serious, i mean more systematic?

Hi Natasha, nothing is wrong the teachers just try to keep the kids happy at the starting 6 months. Then slowly they start teaching basic things so dont worry your kid will be happy.

No what they are doing is not wrong and that is the only right way to do things in playschool. Playschool is not about studying things, it is about kids getting along and learning to play with other kids without crying.

Playschools are usually for your kid to enjoy and side by side learn small things like sharing his things and mixing and adjusting with different kids and colours, shapes and simple alphabets like C, O, U, V and such basic alphabets.

Hello Natasha,
So you want your kid to join in the play school so that your kid can learn some thing new and will be more systematic and i wish your presence in making your kid to learn something is good.It would be done also.

in play school child suppose to learn while playing various games. singing song is one of the act in learning. it is alsoo necessary. in play schoolthey don't teach them to write or alphabates or anything. child learn it after going to KG itself. so don't woory. if your kid is singing songs and playing at play school is fine. and they must have teaching them how to eat and how to behave i am sure.

i feel that preschools are run just to get the children used to staying away from their mothers before they can actually start serious studies. so, i dont think there should be syllabus for the same.

I have been in the field of education, first in Bombay and then in California. I tell you that playschools are like starters of a meal. So, they must have some salt and pepper, that is fun. Dont even think of making it serious.

I am very much against playschools. I think one can do away with it. Moreover, if there are playschools, they must certainly have some curriculum. You cannot charge Rs 300 per month for teaching three songs and one poem.

RE:Shyness right or wrong?
Hello dear this is really nothing to worry as its very common and you should not take this matter as a big concern as kids at this age are normally shy and they do not like meeting new people infact they want only their friends and all with them.... - Anita [View Message]
RE:Shyness right or wrong?
According to me you should take your child to a counselor and ask her what is the exact problem as this is not common and you should get into it as soon as possible and understand the real reason behind the same, please do not ignore this its a request.... - Anaida [View Message]
RE:Shyness right or wrong?
Hello madam this is really sad to see but then please speak to your daughter and ask her why is she doing like this and what is the exact problem because there might be chances that your daughter is hiding something from you and you should think on he same.... - Vijay [View Message]
RE:Shyness right or wrong?
