Hi,
My baby girl is 7 months old.

Normally she sleeps without any fuzz at 10 to 11 in the night. But for the past 4 days. she is crying badly for 2 -3 hrs and gets very tired and sleeps. I tried giving her milk, she is not drinking. Iam unable to console her at all. At this time she bites everything she gets at her hand.

But she is very active and does not cry till the evening. Suddenly she cries badly in the night.

Iam giving her Dal rice with veggies in the morning, homemade raagi/ nestum ragi with 1 fruit in the afternoon and cerelac wheat with apple at 4 to 5 in evening, and milk rest all times.
Is there any problem with this food routine?

Plz.. advice me why she is crying for a very long time in the night. Iam very much concerned..
Hetal and others pls help me out..

I give her teethers also at all times..and she keeps biting that all time..but very vigourously at night times..while crying..

Thanks,
Anu

maybe she is just bored by the evening. Do you take her out of the house in the evening- to a park or somewhere? A little change, a chance to exercise and kick the air, meeting other people apart from mom will tire her and help her sleep properly.

my doctor was against giving these, but in our family we have been using these remedies to soothe babies from teething, fussiness and cold.
i was giving calphos as a family practice but after my doctor said itz not required, we stopped.

my doctor says :
1. Lavender Oil - it has natural mild sedative so it calms babies and itz not advisable to use it.
2. Eucalyptus Oil - it is strong for babies and should not be used near to babies below 6months. it has vapors that does not allow eye ducts to open fully if used before 6months.it also irritates the nose and skin of the babies.

3. Chamomilla tea or tablets : my doctor says use it under strict supervision of homeopathic doctor only. he also said that effectiveness of this plant depends on the place itz grown or cultivated.Iz it true ? how do i know i am using the right one.

4. about calphos, he said that itz nothing but calcium and phosphorus tablets. itz given to babies who suffer from teething pains and has calcium and phosphorus deficiency. when this medicine is given, it will give calcium and phosphorus boost to child and helps in teething. but it does not relieve from teething pain.
instead he was suggesting me to give tylenol every 4hours when aryan(my son) was teething. he also said that tylenol when given in excess causes liver damage. i had to give aryan tylenol during teething as he was running high fever and was crying for 2hours. after tylenol he was feeling better and started playing.

so my question is :
-- is it safe to give the herbs or homeopathic medicine or tylenol ? i am confused about it.
-- since i had to give him tylenol him once during his first 2 upper teeth, does it mean every teeth will give him so much pain ?
it means that i will have to give him tylenol everytime and it will damage his liver ?
can you throw some lights on it.
-- if calphos gives calcium and phosphorus, then can i give calcium and phosphorus supplements directly ?
please throw some lights on these medications. aryan has 2 teeth and it seems his teething time will be hard to handle. i am working from home so it becomes difficult for me to take care of him when he keeps crying or doesn't let me work.
Please throw some lights on this, it will clear my confusion and worries.

tylenol is safe to give. it works for ear pain, teeth pain or fever.it also helps in mild cold and stuffy nose.
you are not giving all the time and only when itz absolutely required. so itz safe. also itz over the counter medicine so itz not needed to ask the doctor. if you are in US, doctors here usually recommend giving tylenol first whenever child has fever with any problems and child is very fussy to handle. itz after the 3days dosage or depending on what baby problem was, they suggest to bring the child to doctor.
itz only if you give tylnol extra strength or tylnol tablets or tylnol cold or any other tylenol plus medicine then you will have to ask doctor about it.
i remember it nicely when my baby had cold i asked my doctor if i can give tylnol cold and fever, he refused and i was asked to give regualar infant tylenol. He also said that if fever and cold doesn't go in 2-3days after every 3hours of dosage or my child becomes very fussy or fever rises above 102 even after tylenol then i will have to take him for checkup. touchwood, baby was fine after 3rd dosages. later we found it was teething that caused him cold and fever.

i don't know about the other medicines.

i have link on lavender oil by hetal, you can check dat if you find any answers about lavender oil.

hi,
if u are in india then start giving calcphos (spelling may be wrong)u can get these at any chemist shp these are nothing but helper like homeopathic these are white colour small tablets.
trust me it really helps.

• You can hold, comfort and carry your baby.
• Try distraction—for example, rock, pat, or sing or talk to your baby, let them suck on your finger or a pacifier, or show them interesting objects.
• Rub your baby’s sore gums with your finger(can may be use honey also if feel like).
• Make sure your baby has plenty of safe toys and other objects like a washcloth to chew on. You can wet a corner of a clean washcloth and freeze it. This makes a great and soothing chew-toy for your baby. Don’t let your baby chew on chokable objects.
• Ask your doctor about using acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) for your baby’s teething pain.
• You could try using the homeopathic remedy Chamomilla (chamomile) for teething accompanied by diarrhea. Homeopathic Chamomilla may help with diarrhea related to cutting teeth [7] [8]. Ask your baby’s doctor about trying Chamomilla if your baby is restless, whining, or irritable and clinging. However, if your baby has more than 6-8 watery stools (poopy diapers) in a day, or has vomiting with diarrhea, call your baby’s doctor right away.

your daughtr is teething,,thats how i see her being fussy, biting nd such all. give her cool teethers,,also, if you are in US, apply orajel(gum soothing gel), or if in India, ask your dr about some soothing gel.
expect unexplained fussiness, biting everythng, loss of int in food/milk or just drinking liquids and doesnt like food,,cant sleep, restless at night,,
give her tylnol(if in US,as recmnded by your dr or ne such pain reliever to soothe her from pain),,,,
give tylnol or ne medication only when you think that its costing her health, and she needs to rest now,,or is absolutely required...like after 2-3hrs of prolong crying..
this is quite natural, and until her teeth buds wil come out,,she will continue to do the same..offer her lots of liquids, and keep her well hydrated,,whenver she seems to be cryng or biting,,offer teethers.
at night, when she gets up, try applyng soothng gel,,when she goes out of control and you think you cant handle her,and she is biting,,give her some cold piece of vegetable like carrot or lauki/long gourd,,let her chew on it...run them thru cool tap water before offerng direct from fridge to avoid cold.
apart from that,,at 7momths,,make sure she eats what is all required :

http://www.indiaparenting.com/boards/showmessage.cgi?messageid=7329&table_name=dis_feeding

in morning until evening times,,she is oftn busy with things around and tends to forget pain of teethng or she will chew something if given during the daytime,,night time,,is the time of resting period and ne time that in peace,,when a smallest thing triggrs, oftn disturbs them,,there is alot of developments spurts goin on in them. try givng her soothng warm bath, before sleep and a good feed of bm or formula,,and see if it makes her settled at night. check her temperature n check her bowels,,ne change in it,,must be reportd to dr.
also, if you can avoid cerelac wheat at 7months,,its good..wheat is not recmnded bfore 10months at the least,,its heavy food esp aftr you are givng her raagi in noons......
offer oats or rice or barley, instead...see if stopng wheat makes her comfy at night.
check on ne signs of gas, indigestion or reflux bothering her...

rest all fine,,,your baby is better, she eats atleast, and drinks milk,,mine used to fast during teething !
welcome to teething tantrums ! thats all i can see with all you wrote!!
good luck

RE: Eczema concern
Hello,

I had a similar query a few months ago concerning eczema occuring in toddlers. As far as I know, it can be due to a varrying number of factors and common foods that end up causing the condition in 1-2 year old toddlers.

In my research I found this article really helpful in addressing the problem:
