Health Issues:Please advise: circumcise/ Urine infection/ VUR

Hi all,

My son is 14 months old and is very active baby. last month he had fever becasue of Urine infection. Once infection is cured, doc has suggested to get done all the test like Ultrasound abdomen and MCU. His MCU report shows Vesicoureteric reflux (VUR) grade 3 on left side and grade 1 on right side. After then we have gone for DMSA renal cortical scan and fortuntely according to this report no damage is observed in kidney.

As his VUR grade level is low so doctor said it may go auomatically as he grows but we have to continously monitor him and take all the precautions. We are giving him one dose of antibiotic at night to prevent UTI. Secondly doctor told to circumcised him because his foreskin is tight.

I am very worried for him. Here are my few queries, plz share your advises.

1: If any one is also faced same problem like VUR what kind of medication you followed. Is it really go automatically. Any small advise in this front would be very much helpful for me.

2: If you know any home remedy to cure Urine infection or useful to prevent urine infection.

3: Any idea about Homeopathic and Aryuvedic treatment in this kind of problem.

4: Is it safe to circumcised. How painful is this process. If anyone has circumcised his boy, please share experience.

Thanks a lot for your time,
Regards
Sona

Hi Sona, this problem is caused when you dont clean your baby properly. Also try to give some amount of water everytime you feed anything to your baby so that there is enough water in the body.

Urine tract infection is very common in small kids as they don't keep themselves to clean. As a parent you being worried is very natural but if you have any questions is it better to just go ad ask the doctor that had prescribed him the medicines.

Urine infection is very common in small children and there is nothing much to worry about it. Keep giving him the prescribed medicine and he will get better with time. And for the rest of the problems you should go to a doctor.

Take your son to some more doctors and take their opinion on your son's case and then take their opinion on it. Homeopathic is a good option for your kid as too many anti-biotics can cause harm to your child.

Dear A,

It is a pleasant surprise to see a reply on this thread after many years. I completely forgot about the same. Well My son is absolutely fine now.
- We gave him 1 dose of antibiotic daily at bedtime for a year.
- Based on Doc suggestion, We circumcised also but now we feel that we should not go for this process.
- Whenever he had fever, we went for urine routine test.
- Also we met homeopathic doc but didnt start any medication because we dont want to take any risk.

After one year, his MCU report was absolutely normal and doc advised us to stop all the medication. Doc also suggested to go for urine test if in future he has any urine related issues.

Regards,
Sona

after 6 months of medication, the doc got a repeat dmsa scan done which showed a decrease in the functioning of leftkidney(previously 36%,now only 28%)
on this basis the doctors have advised me reimplantation surgery.
also,my son didnot hav a single uti in al 6 months during medication, his growth is also normal.

Hello Sona,
My son has the exact same problem. VUR Grade 3...Although he is on a antibiotic called Septra. He is 19 months old now. The Dr didn' t say anything about changing the meds every three months. I will confirm with my Dr about eggs.
Also he sai it was not necessary for us to do circumcision.
Is your son also having very low urine flow and does he urinate very less at a time... I am concerned about that but my Dr says once he is little older and learns to retract his skin while urinating, the flow will be better. But I am still concerned that he urinates so less at a atime.

RE: Eczema concern
Hello,

I had a similar query a few months ago concerning eczema occuring in toddlers. As far as I know, it can be due to a varrying number of factors and common foods that end up causing the condition in 1-2 year old toddlers.

In my research I found this article really helpful in addressing the problem:
