I grew up a vegetarian (and remain so) and don' t ever remember being hard pressed for variety in our meals. As a child it amazed me to hear comments from non-vegetarian friends or relatives to the effect that \" veg is boring\" .

TO add a comment often voiced by a non-vegetarian friend of mine. He says: Meat by itself has no special taste of its own and is palatable only when approriately garnished with spices and masalas, whereas vegetables and the like all have distinctive flavours.

I wouldn' t know, haven' t ever tasted meat. But I have no reason to disbelieve him.
