Ronak,

The CARA website lists two recognized agencies (RIPAs) in Punjab: Nari Niketan Trust and Swami Ganga Foundation. Check out the CARA webpage for their contact details.

There appear to be no RIPAs in J&K in the CARA listing. I was told (during our adoption journey) that an orphanage or child-welfare home that is not an official CARA RIPA can get a child it wants to place for adoption, transferred to an official RIPA so that the adoption can proceed.

A simple Google search yielded a couple of orphanages in J&K:
1) JK Yateem Trust
2) Borderless World Foundation

I' m sure there are more. If you contact them, they may be able to advise you further.

Good Luck,
Manish.

Please go to adoption section on IndiaParenting and read the articles available. You will get good info about the adoption procedure. Especially with the title Procedure of in-country adoption

adopting a baby girl

RE:adopting a baby girl
A single male is allowed to adopt. But he should be at least 30 years old. Also he cannot adopt a girl child. A noted example is dance instructor Sandip Sapporkar. So please take a wise decision.... - Sandy Dixit [View Message]
RE:adopting a baby girl
The mentality of the adopting male is checked by the authority. Further if a male is adopting a girl then the age difference should be at least 21.Also the person to be adopted should not be more than 15 years of age.... - Trilok [View Message]
RE:adopting a baby girl
I guess as of now adoption is only permitted for Hindus in India and also the adopted child should also be a Hindu. There are many restrictions for a single male as such in adoption process.
Thanks... - Rohan [View Message]
