A great way to jump start your diet, even with your illness, is to weigh your options. Go to the internet and type, they count your calories for you, manage your own individual workout and allow you to blog about your food. If you are looking for healthy indian food, just look for lean meats and vegetables and allow the calorie counter to help you with your decisions. Good Luck!

It is inaccurate and misleading that any food will cause discoluration of the baby... colour is determined by genetic factors, not the food we eat. Also, your diabetologist will refer you to a good nutritionist who should be able to guide and monitor your GD diet.

Hi All,

I have been reading about GD, and wanted to know whether there are any symptoms of knowing about GD or does this reflect in your routine blood tests?

i heard takin karelas
are good ,but they can lead to increse in iron content of our body which is harmful.too much iron can cause constipation nad also less weight for baby, also gives brown-bronze coloration to babay.my aunt used it and she had iron overload.
iam nt sure abt the no of karelas she took .i tink 3 a day but ,the effect may not be same with 1 a day.
iam also preg now.i have slight inc in sugar,my gyn only asked to cut bac on sugars.hav u asked gyn?

Hi Neeru,
I know it is a lot tougher to control your diet when you are diagnosed with GD in pregnancy.I know this coz I was diagnosed with GD as well.

My Doc referred me to a dietician who gave me a eating plan.Basically avoid rice ,potatoes, sweet items(although you may have cravings). If you can tell me where you are located I will be able to help you more. Are you in India or USA?
Let me know and then I will write all the eating plans and foods to eat and avoid in detail.
Tanswap.
