I need u help urgently.

My sister -in -law is planning to for adpotion from India mumbai.

We all are working in Dubai, yesterday my sister -in- law called my husband and told him that he need to make a letter stating that incase his sister and husband expires, we will take care of adpoted child, and to get this letter attested from the Indian consulate.

My husband has one elder brother also. But she said the rule is any brother or sister of only the adopting lady who is less than 40 years old is allowed to be a gardian for the baby.

What I want to know, Is there any rule that this letter is reqired and if so should it be attested by the indian consulate.

Secondly cannot this be done by my sister- in laws -husband' s family members. like his sister or brother.

Is it necessary that it should be done by the girls family only.

Hi Roopa,Just for information yes it is true an adoptive parents need to take an undertaking from either side of siblings(mothers brother/sister or Fathers Brother/sister)...This is like you said it is a gurantee that if anything happens to the adoptive parents..tha baby will be taken care by the couple who has undertaken...It is a Hypothetical condition ...Just think if your sister In law had her own biological child and if God Forbid if anything happens to them , the child be taken care without any undertaking...but who will decide the fate of an adopted child in such crisis..it is just a formality for assuring the legal system....it will be a good deed if you accept the same....All the Best
