Im marrd for last 2 years. My husband’s cousin sister stays with me…she doesn’t hv mother …that’s y my mil takes care of her…mostly she has survived on cow’s milk n she was bottle fed at a very early age…right now she is 7 year’s old studying in std 11…but her weight is 10 kgs….

She looks like 3 –4 years old kid…her bones are really very thin…teeth are very bad…she doesn’t eat properly…we use to gv her appetite syrups still she wudnt eat …
She is very much interested in studies but compared to the hard work she does her result is always bad….

This is what she eats….
Morning at 8am she will eat 2 marie biscuits with tea…at 11 am..quarter chapati ..with very very little bhaji….to school she takes potato chips or wafers….around 5pm she will eat outside vada pav then straight at night she eat rice with dal or bhaji…but very little in saucer size plate…she hardly drinks water thruout the day…she can drink pepsi..colas readily….

Whatever she eats it will be mostly outside food or junk food ..that too it will be I a very less quantity…required for her survival …since she doesn’t hv a mother n she is so weak we pamper her …..n gvs her whatever she wants…

We don’t let her go n play also…she is very very short tempered

But I feel really bad whn I look at her ..she 7 n weighs only 10 kgs…if soemone can advice me about how to improve her health

shame on you! first she lost her mom, and now she is having a family who does not have the will to take proper care of her! Sorry for the hard words, but you are the adult. Stop junkfood immediately - feed the child with proper food meaning lots of proteins, lots of fibres, no sugar, less fat. She need proper medical care - and maybe: a new family!? You really have to act as a grown up regarding her food and her daily life and show responsibility. Wish you all good luck!!

There are two things I would advice:
1. Cut out junk food completely. The kid has a small apetite. If she fills up on soft drinks and chips, her intake of healthy food will be minimal.

2. Take her to a pediatric endocrinologist. 10kgs at age 7 is not normal. She needs medical help-the sooner the better.

Our weight loss story
We were killing ourself with food, and we both were suffering from diabetes. After the surgery we are two whole new people. We act, walk and talk differently. We are finally feeling the way we were meant to feel. We are able to walk, dance, work and do other things without needing to sit down every few minutes. Weight loss surgery is not a diet…. it is a whole new life! ... - Meghana Prabhu [View Message]
RE:not gaining weight
Hi dear the best way is to make your child do exercise and by doing this he will get hungry and will start having food and at the same time you can also start giving food which are rich in protein and fibre so that he filled with all those food and don't forget to give him a glass of milk with pediasure..
