There are varied reasons of having postpartum depression. Previous history of postpartum depression, stressful relationships or marriage, lack of communication are some of the common causes of this type of depression. It is important to take medical help.

A history of depression increases the risk of having postpartum depression. women who were on medicines for depression should consult their doctors on alternative options and also for option after delivery. Being aware and having open communication can prevent postnatal depression.

Heredity also play a major role in increasing the chances of having postpartum depression. History of depression not related to pregnancy and family history increase the chances of having postpartum depression . Such women should be in constant touch with their doctors.
