Sunith replied. This is my first post on a blog & there will be many. I am here to expose doctors who have been cheating and thus taking advantage of their profession to earn some extra bucks.
Sunita Tandulwadkar, is quite a good (probably only in books) name in the field of IVF in Pune. She has a team of immature doctors who need spoon feeding from her.
She, the senior doctor, among these bunch of doctors doesn' t know how to talk to patient & their relatives who have just gone through the worst treatment of IVF in their hospital.
We know at least 6 couples who went through IVF at Ruby Hospital under Dr Tandulwadkar' s consultation and not just a single case of success other than just one or two cases whose gratitude letters are pasted on her wall.Other than those, there is no database of successful cases for reference purpose for new patients who want to hear first hand experiences of successful IVF stories.
Our Experience.
She is very commercial. She asks people to go to Pune hospital if they are coming to Ruby Hall Clinic so that she can run her business smoothly as Pune hospital is more a charitable trust hospital and the receipts also are pretty much the same. She gives a receipt of Pune Hospital which has her clinic address and does not give a break up of the bill amount. The bill says \" Received with Thanks From XYZ \" cash of XYZ rupees and nothing more than that. No description of the diagnosis, treatment given or injection/medicine' s names etc.
If you would ask them, we need break up or a proper authorised bill for the huge payments we are making (which goes upto Rs.80,000-90,000 other than Rs 55,000 for rest of the procedures exclusive of medication costs)etc, they will say \" it is like that only & go and talk to m' am if you have any objections .And none of the patients can object to it, as ,all people are looking forward to, is a successful pregnancy and dont want to spoil relations with the chief consultant as after all, everything is in their hands. Patient puts her entire trust into the doctor and doesnot question anything that she does.
Your first visit and she will suggest you IUI. Your second visit and she will suggest IVF. And if you ask them that you want to try on your own and just need her assistance in conceiving naturally, and if you come to them later, she will get irritated, even talk uncorteously.
Her receiptionist, Sheila, is equally unprofessional. She doesnot know how to talk to the patients . It seems these guys have not been told how to be empathetic to patients who are already worried or even devastated in some cases with not being able to become parents and come to them for help.
My wife called them up the next day of IVF as she experienced some unexpected bleeding (which should never happen ideally). She called up one of her doctor and they said their madam is busy and after an hour she calls up and says nothing to worry.Just relax as its normal in some cases. No medication was given to her. We were really worried at the response and when she kept trying calling her doctor, nobody picked up the whole day. Then, I tried calling all the doctor' s and even same happened with me. Later, I called them directly on the landline through reception and finally I was able to talk with Mrs Sunita Tandulwadkar. What an irrational response that was. Since, by that time she had known that things have gone beyond hands, she spoke in a loud voice and tried to dominate the conversation.
Finally, she said i am increasing your wife' s medicine dosage as she needs more medicinal support. After the increased dose, although the bleeding stopped ,but,by that time we had already lost the precious embryos (imagine-just on the 2nd day of embryo transfer we had lost the embryo already). All the time, patience, efforts and money down the drain.Resultingly, the pregnancy report was negative.
Post operative care was also pathetic. After embryo transfer (which was done in the operation theatre),she was left all alone in the O.T. with nobody to attend to her.She kept calling doctors for some assistance but nobody listened to her for about an hour. Finally, they came inside and asked her to walk back from O.T. to her recovery room.
When we went to see the doctor after the negative pregnancy report, she was not at all apologetic or concerned. She offered no explanation and just told us the alternatives available with us.When we tried to inquire more about the possibilities available and chances of further success, she literally showed us way out saying that \" I have more patients to see.\" .This was absolutely disgusting and unprofessional on part of a doctor who is next to God for unfortunate ones like us.
We regret going to her and wasting our time, energy, patience and hard earned money on her.
We would never recommend Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar to anybody.
Abc replied. I guess we were really lucky: we chose the right IVF specialist Dr. Ritu Santwani and her Shyam Well Women Clinic and Pune TestTube Baby IVF Center.
Dr. Ritu is a very knowledgeable, kind doctor! She tells the truth, and make sure to keep us informed on each and every part of the process.
We feel as if the entire PTBC IVF team under Dr. Ritu is personally invested in their patients and genuinely care about the outcome of cycles. They went above and beyond in so many ways to help us achieve a pregnancy. Three cycles later and we are currently 20 weeks pregnant with our baby that we literally couldn' t of had without PTBC IVF.
I don' t think we will ever be able to fully express our gratitude towards PTBC clinic. They will FOREVER be a huge part of our lives, we feel as if they are our miracle team in baby making. :)
Dr. Ritu Santwani you are the Best!

ivf replied. Choosing a fertility expert can be a difficult task especially if you dont know anyone who can suggest you one. Asking for recommendations from coworkers, neighbors, and friends is a good way to start, but ultimately you will have to decide which physician is best suited to your individual needs and situation.
Though your biological clock' s alarm may be screeching in your ears, it' s worth hitting the snooze button once more so you' ll have the time to find a good fertility clinic.
The statistics are updated every few years, so check the date. Keep in mind that some fertility centers that looked great several years ago may have had high staff turnover and declined in quality. But the numbers give you a place to start. Also, ask a lot of questions of every fertility clinic you' re considering.
Present Top Fertility Centers in India are
1.Dr.Malpani' s Fertility Clinic in Mumbai
2.Dr.Hrishikesh Pai,Pearl hospital in Delhi
3.Dr.Samundi Sankari, Srushti Fertility Research Centre in Chennai
4.Dr.Jatin Shah, Bombay Fertility Clinic in Mumbai
5.Dr.Kamala Selvaraj, GG Hospital in Chennai
These Drs and Centers have been chosen from recent success stories and patient satisfaction. They are the best in India.
pal replied. Thanks a lot for ishwarya hospital for giving me success.
I was referred to this hospital by my close friend from tiruppur who conceived by ivf here 2 years ago.
my case was totally tough and I had 2 test tube baby failure till some time ago done in bangalore. I was told that my endometrial thickness was low always during embryo transfer by reviewing the previous report. this time I was offered a treatment with icsi and I again had a same problem in ishwarya, but my embryos were frozen this cycle here and I was adviced with frozen embryo transfer and finally I conceived here immediately. now I am very happy. thanks for the individualised care during icsi. long live this hospital doctors and staff. a special thanks to dr.chandralekha, dr.devi and staff kanmani and ranganayaki who took care of me during the hospital stay. in bangalore I wasted almost 2.5 lacs per cycle, here finally everything got over by 1.6 lacs. thanks a lot.

prashanth in adyar was ok but their main hospital is in chetput. i heard their fees is lil high and appointments are in untime. heard good feedback.

Among the various clinics in tamilnadu , only few are really old. choose the oldest to have the best success percent. New clinics wont be much experienced at all.
List of Experienced centres:
1.GG Hospital - 25 years - Pioneer. in nungambakkam
2.Prashanth Hospital - started in 2005 in chetpet. 5 years. doctor was previously working in apollo.
3. Iswarya fertility centre - started in 1996. 15 years exp. 3 centres - Chennai , coimbatore , palani. Palani and Coimbatore are old ones. chennai one is 4 years old
Choose among these 3. Only these 3 offer all services like blastocyst , freezing , etc.
If you go for new clinics then you have to face lot of difficulties.

i am from vellore. initially i was undergoing treatment with Dr.jayaganeshan near vellore. i did iui 3 times there.. din conceive. finally saw a lot of advices in net. preferred either iswarya or gg. went for second opinion to few ivf clinics in chennai. a lot of them suggested ivf for me. but a lot of ivf clinics costs were extremely high in other hospitals.then i preferred iswarya women' s hospital. here the doctors were kind enough and gave me encouragement. after getting counseling from them, the procedure was started. ovulation induction was done by scan monitoring for me. my husband had slightly lesser count. finally the docs suggested to go for icsi procedure considering our age group.i was told 4 good embryos were formed after ivf by blastocyst method..then single embryo was transferred and i asked them to freeze the other embryos. now conceived in iswarya by icsi. its my 2nd month. now we are proud ourselves that we are going to become mother and father.. thanks to this method of treatment. i suggest any couple who are in need of ivf treatment to go to iswarya.
regarding treatment its one of the best, i hope.
i heard there are other ivf clinics in chennai which have good ambience and treatments. finally found success rate is good here...

Good see your comments! You know my dear The first person The legend Embryologist Bob Edwards is got a nobel prize in Medicine(IVF).There is no Gynec doctor got this prize so far.So you should understand how much importance to the Embryologist.
Coming to your question:-
The clinic should be OHSS free clinic
In house - IVF -clinician/In house Embryologist
It should be preferably ongoing cases - no batching
The pregnancy has to be consistent at least (40%)
The success rates- role Embryologist 50% Gynec 50%
This clarification is the blind man catching the buffalo tail and assuming thinking that its an elephant tail.
This is to understand about the ivf and to choose the best ivf centre.
Good Luck...

This is on to you to believe it or not but whatever we have written is from the bottom of our heart. We do not want victims. Me and my wife suffered exactly the same what we wrote. We do not want speak wrong about anyone. This is only what has happened.. You must have seen if you have ever gone to her that there is no transparecy. Check out pune hospital billing system. Is even more disgusting. Nobody knows how much success was there in this hospital. An instance to share with you. After we were unsuccessful, we knew one other couple who also went through IVF after we did and the lady called my wife and told her that she was also -ve. She told us that when they asked why it happened, doctors had no answers and said that there were 3 more cases the same day and all were successful. Now, we know at least one such case other than she who was unsuccessful. The worst part is that they will have no clue about what happened and they will be least bothered once they see that you are -ve and dont want to continue further. So, you will get replies like " I have more patients to see" . As if its like a business and will really be disgustingto listen such words after you spent so much time, effort, emotions, tolerated.
