Name: Aradhana I just had my baby. My mother is giving me ghee rich foods and other heavy stuff. she says that I need more energy now. I do not want to eat all this but my mother insists. Will this interfere in my weight loss program post pregnancy?

As for now you should eat properly without thinking about your weight as you need energy. You can think about losing weight after some months. Eat proper nutrient and do light yoga which is allowed for you to do in this condition.

• Follow a raw food diet for 2 days. Omit sugar completely& limit salt intake.
• Later on eat a diet, which includes cooked vegetables, fruits, whole grains & pulses.
• Drink 8-10 glasses of water with a dash of lime in it. Water is one of the best detoxifying agent.
• Consume sufficient fibre to keep your body cleansed & light.
• Eat your dinner by 7 p.m., don’t eat anything after that till you wake up.

Eating heavy foods once in a while after delivery is normal as long as you are breastfeeding your baby. You need a lot of calories while you are breastfeeding. You will be able to burn off the excess calories due to breastfeeding. so do not worry. Enjoy motherhood.

I am really with you. I know how it feels when one desperately want to lose weight. In Indian culture, it is common to eat ghee rich foods. I think it is fine for initial few weeks. continuous eating of such heavy foods will lead to more weight gain. You will not be able to lose your pregnancy weight.
