Name: Rupa Can someone please tell me if lamaze classes make a difference in helping with labour pains. Somebody told all they do is distract the mother from thinking about the pain, but the pain does not really get better.

Lamaze was the name of the doctor who first brought the concept of conditioned response at birth to the western world. The same has evolved to childbirth education. Any tool would work only if the woman uses it at the appropriate time, besides the aim of the childbirth class is not just getting the woman through the labour, but to empower her to experience the most important moment event of her life with confidence and revel in the emotional aspect much before and after the event itself. It brings together the rational and the instinct which co exsist within the modern woman and dont neccesarily have to be at ends with each other.

Subject:  Lamaze Classes in ggn and delhi
I know a gyne Dr. Anjali kumar who conducts prenatal classes at her home and clinic in sushant lok in ggn. Her mobile number is: 9810121755. She started these classes this year only.

But the classes i attended were conducted by Nutan Pandit in Defence colony in delhi. She is very experienced and has been conducting these classes for quite a few years now. You can get the details from her website by searching her name on google. Her add: D 178, Defence Colony
New Delhi 110024 India
The classes are quite good.

Also Sitaram Bhartiya Hospital in Qutub inst. area in delhi provides lot of information for expecting mother and fathers thru their workshops.
Hope this will help !! Best of luck.

ksenia, u should call them up and ask them the price on the telephone. there's less chance of them quoting the wrong price to you. also, if u go to a reputable class, they will have a standard rate. since you will be at the class u could always verify the price by asking others at the class... i would expect cab drivers, autorickshaw drivers, little shop peddlers to charge u more because u are a foreigner.. i dont think someone conducting a class can do that.

Hello Nupsan,
I am also considering joining these classes. Could you please tell me how much did it cost you?
I am a foreigner married to an Indian that's why I would really appreciate to get any info about their prices before I call them as I am afraid they can quote me a higher price when they het to know that I am a foreigner.
We are now expecting our first child:)

Thanks in advance!

It depends on each person whether the exercises taught in the Lamaze class work or not. But i would advice you to go because they will give you lot of useful info. Bottom line do not believe all the horror stories that people broadcast, each pregnancy is different and each labour/delivery is different. The best part about the classes is they will teach your hubby/partner some best massaging techniques, so i think it would be worth taking the class. Good luck.

Lot of people think they are humbug, but I completely disagree. They really helped me manage the pain a lot lot better. If you startt screaming during labour then all your energy is getting directed towards the wrong thing!

RE:How to Prepare for Labour and Childbirth
Hello All,

I agree with the above comments. Now a days we can see all such classes. We have to be well educated about this Labour and other things before delivery. As I can see all these educations are being conducted Online with one on one sessions. Good thing is we don have to go anywhere or to fix an appointment. we take classes on our time at our convenien... - A Dad [View Message]
RE:Good Gyne in North Delhi
Hey rachna i am confused as in why you want to meet a gynae for your son you should instead go for an paediatrician. And gynae is for girls and women so i dont think he/she might be able to help out your son on medical issues.... - Richa [View Message]
