I myself suffer with hyperpigmentation which so many of you have reported suffering from yourselves and for those that don't know it is caused by too much melanin in the skin. Melanin is the pigment in the skin which makes us darker, sometimes too much is produced in certain area on the body which results in brown marks or patches. Hypopigmentation is when the body produces too little melanin aka vitilgo and results in white patches on certain parts of the body. Now I'm sorry that I can't offer much advice to those that are suffering from vitiligo as I don't know much about it, but as I suffer from hyperpigmentation myself I can offer some suggestions. I have dark patches on my nose both the centre and at the sides, the sides of my face, my forehead, my hands, the insides of my arms and my neck. Now aren't I lucky. I can suggest that for people that have been scratching the areas where their pigmentation problems are present to stop! as this only makes it worse and the scratching is probally what caused it to begin with. It could be that you have dermitis and if this is the case I suggest that you change to a non biological soap powder which is gentler on the skin. Other suggestions include always use a sunblock when you go outside as the sun can darken your skin in certain areas. Eat a good diet and drink lots of water. Now when it comes to lightening creams please avoid those that contain hydriquinone especially more than 2% as 2% is the legal maximum that the creams on the market can contain. In the past I have tried Fair and Lovely lightening cream which I think worked well as other people did comment on a marked difference in the appearance of my skin however I stopped using it when I discovered Fair and White. The fair and white cream is working but it is stong so please be careful or you may go too light, only use it to treat the areas that are darker and not as a general lightening cream. Since using the Fair and White I have seen a marked difference and I have only been using it for about two and a half weeks. Sometimes it's hard to spot the differences yourself so I suggest that you take a before and after photograph and get a friend or someone else to look for you and tell you if they notice any change in your skin. For those that don't like the idea of using skin lightening creams I have read that honey mixed with lemon or limes used daily helps lighten skin. More information about that is right here on the net.
