Name: Organic food Country: Japan Comment: Eczemz is a sign of toxicity in the body excreating through the skin. You have to change your diet. Stop eating refined sugar, junk food, food additives, sodas, white rice, white flour, etc. Switch to organic whole foods. We are what we eat. Eczema and allergy did not exist as much as today when people ate healthier foods. Do not over eat and chew 100 times. Add probiotic supplements to create a good flor in your guts which is super important. And take enzyme to digest your food better when you eat. Undigested food will cause eczema. Use emu oil to smooth and moisture skin. ( I usde Thunder Ridge emu oil. Quality matters). To stop the infection, use pau d'arco herbal essence or, Tea Tree oil, or oregano oil, whichever works for you, many times a day to the affected area, so you will not get a secondary infection. Keep good with your diet and you will eventually have no eczema. It takes time but it is curable! Stick to your healthy diet, again, DO NOT OVER EAT and no junk food. Take flax seeds oil. Love yourself and be patient and your body will be normal again after many many times of scaling skin and eczema flare ups. Do not give up. Do not use steroid cream. When you are itchy, wet towel with camomile tea and put ice and put it on your itchy area. You can not do this alone. Get support from your family and friends. Name: amy Country: U.S.A. Name: My Name is Lorah Country: U.S.A. Comment: My name is Lorah I am a 23 yr. old femaale living in the state of Pennsylvania in the United states. When I was a baby my mom would call me "alligator butt" because I had unusually dry skin for a baby. Later in my life I developed full blown eczema. I have it in the creases of my elbows, the back of my neck, and most notably my eyelids. I went to the doctor and was told to limit my exposure to water esp. hot water and to moisturize but as I am sure all of you know that it only goes so far. I went again and was prescribed non-steriodial cream called ELIDEL. I asked for non-steriodal cream brecause I thought the steriods might effect me but the doctor assured me that only a small amount absorbs into the dermis. Prescriptions are to expensive for me so I have been managing my eczema for at least the last ten years by drinking water, moisturizing with AVEENO BABY and for my eyelids a mixture of beeswax and cocoa butter. It is a terribly frustrating thing to have eczema. It hurts and itches. People can be so unkind. I have been asked on more than one occasion if I was a leper. I know now to ignore them and I hope you can too. I feel for all of us who have it. I hope this may have been helpful I wish you all Luck! Comment: I have severe eczema and I have it on my tummy, on my neck, on my face, on the back of my knees, both arms, on my wrist, on the upper part of my pelvis, ears, upper part of my tummy, shoulders, and elbow. I have had it since i was 3 months old. I have tried a lot of medications including vaseline after i take a shower. I have been afraid of water because I know it will severely hurt. I am always jealous of the people who don't have eczema because they have so much fun in the water. I have lots of allergies and i'm allergic to a lot of stuff and foods. I wish that I never had eczema sometimes. I nearly even cry for having it. I have VERY dry skin, and i am very sensitive so I scratch a lot because people get mad at me. Comment: hi, my son he's 1 1/2 yrs old, he has had eczema when he was 6 months. we went to the doctor and she couldn't figure out what it was, and recommened that we go to a dermatologist. we went there and she prescribed steroid creams, which made his eczema go a away for alittle while and then it returns.I don't know what to do, he has a big patch on his chin and little ones on his legs and 2big patches on his feet. It itches him so much that he make it bleed sometimes. And the steroid creams are giving him dry scalp. But now after searching and finding this site and reading the posts that people have wrote, now i'm going to start using some of the methods and see which one works for him. but i have a question for the people who use the neem oil, do you dilute the oil, meaning add water because i read online that neem oil is very strong.can someone please let me know thanks. i hope one of these methods work banana peel, vicks, apple cider vinegar method work. Name: michelle Country: Netherlands Comment: I have eczema now for over 9 years,i have it all over accept on my face.I have tried everything you can think of and nothing helped except for one person an Indian dermatologist Pratima in New York,i had a consult over the phone sent her pictures of my skin and she sent me all the products by post.Within 6 weeks everything was gone even the really bad dark marks. All her products are based on Ayurveda.Stress is a very big cause of eczema(unless you have allergie to certain things)I was tested on everything you can think of..My eczema did come back again, but thats because of emotional stress that i have to deal with. Please try out Pratima, the people are very friendly and willing to help you, good luck to all with eczema!! Her skin is so sensitive that any body lotion irritates her skin.Himalaya soothing body lotion for dry skin is the only thing which does not irritates. I apply this body lotion once after bath which keeps her skin soft. But the main thing that cures the rash is the oil made by boiling neem leaves in coconut oil(musterd oil can also be used)I apply it 3 times a day on the rashes and after 5 days all the rashes goes away. If the rash is stubborn u can also aply neem oil in addition to this neem leaf oil on the rashes only. Name: Sarika Country: India Comment: I have recently onr burning scar near above my stomach ,first I thought my skin must have got burnt, but later on I developed another such mark near my thighs.I still ignored that, but after few days some more burning rashes appeared at some places. So, I thought to consult a Dr. she first gave me atarax and and a cream called lutica but of no use I went again to her after 10 days she changed the medicine and declared that its eczema and gave me terminafine to apply along with zocon.Still, the condition remain the same. So, I thought to change the Dr. this time I went to Fortis and he gave me alparax and mamodo cream. Don't know what is it bec thrs no itching though sometimes little burning sensation occurs on the rashes biut they fade with time and another one take place after that.Plz help. Will homeopathic med work here bec the Dr said that eczema cannot be eliminated but it can be controlled so very worried. Thanks in advace Name: heather Country: U.S.A. Comment: My massage therapist suggested an old Portuguese home remedy of rubbing the inside of a banana peel on the affected area (several unsightly eczema sores on my hands). I tried this and it seems to be helping. Apparently the oils in the banana peel are very beneficial in helping to heal. You rub the spots with the inside of the banana peel and later apply a good unscented moisturizer. I have had a number of eczema outbreaks over the past 10 years and while some of the prescriptions have helped, to a degree, nothing has worked as fast or as effectively as the banana peel remedy. TRY IT!!!! Name: Ex Back Country: Afghanistan Comment: This is very hot info. I think I'll share it on Facebook. Name: Trisha Country: United Kingdom Comment: I had bad case of eczema in early January, which started of as a small patch on my leg that got infected which spread to most parts of my body. After some research, I took Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulphate) baths to relieve the itching, moisturise, with pure raw shea butter, also neem oil in bath, also use as an all over moisturiser (mixed with carrier oil). Neem oil is excellent has same qualities quick effects of sterioids with out side affects, but it really stinks...but worth it. Drink lots of water to keep hydrated internally, good diet lots of vegetables and fruit. Increase omega 3 consumption. This has been working for me. Most of ecxema has cleared just working on patches of skin that has darkened due to me itching. But this should fade over time. There is another product, a shielding lotion, which bonds with the skin allowing the skin to moisturise deep within, my be preferable to those who don't like using greasy product. Hope this helps Name: Gwen Country: Canada Comment: I have been suffering with eczema now for 16 months. Have been trying many different things, with little luck. Still currently on a gluten free diet (2 1/2 months) and must be patient. Could be celiac - something for others to consider. Don't stop eating wheat/gluten before you're tested (my mistake). If you are celiac it could take months off gluten before eczema is better. Just wanted to share a product that works amazingly well for my children - Lansinoh breastfeeding cream. Doesn't work as well for me (but nothing does after awhile), but really well on my son. Clears it right up and takes away the itch. Nursing mother's use this cream - not like regular lanolin, it's 100% pure - babies can eat it! Don't listen to the doctors that say there is no cure - keep trying. Sunshine & swimming in the ocean cured my daughter 2 yrs. ago, and it's never returned. My last outbreak was 13 yrs. ago, and when I gave up wheat the itching/eczema started to clear up within 24 hrs. This time it's being more stubborn. Also, taking B complex, acidophilus, milk thistle (for liver), zinc (for skin), calcium (very important, most of us don't get enough), biotin (eczema can be cause of deficiency). Just waiting for creosote free pine tar soap & salve. Suppose to work wonders - we'll see. I'll let you all know. Keep positive. You will get better - & one last thing - don't feel guilty about using cortisone when there is no other option. I've had days when I couldn't function. I am always looking for natural cures and hate taking cortisone (only a bandaid), but I have a family to care for and was desperate. 0.5% cortisone at bedtime got me on my feet - sometimes it's the only choice. Name: Marty Country: Canada Comment: I've had eczema all my life. It comes and goes and most of the time, it's been rather tame and managable. But recently it flared up big-time, to the point where the itching keeps me up at night. I've used strong steriod cremes which help out, I've stopped drinking all milk, but I still can't figure out what's wrong now. I take Carlson's fish oil, evening primrose oil, shower without soap, but to no avail. When I wash my hands for a few seconds with just water, all the oil is stripped off, and I have painful open cuts from the eczema. Check out websites, books (The Yeast Connection is a good one) and naturopath doctors. Conventional doctors don't have much clue as to this particualr disease and will mostly give prescriptions that dont' work. Refined sugars and grains (such as white flour) feed candida (an overgrowth of yeast in the body). You can check out this disease by typing candida albicans in your browser. Just watch out for the charlatans trying to sell products that don't work well. Look for a naturopath doctor who knows what candida is and is welling to test for it. Name: ash Country: U.S.A. If you have this problem, try eliminating, gluten (check all food products that may have it), pasteurized dairy (raw diary is much less problematic), refined sugars, including fake sweeteners, table salt (unrefined salt is actually healthy). Eating vegetables and fruits versus processed foods will help heal quickly. If you can afford organic meats, much, much better. Nitrates in processed deli meats are an absolute health hazard. Fact that the pediatrician says it cannot be due to her age proves she is ignorant about this condition that can get excruciatingly ITCHY. I would take her to a dermatologist ASAP for a proper and timely diagnosis to prevent unnecessary suffering of the kid and worrying on your part - Treatment (my name on this site) Name: Reply-SREE Country: usa Comment: I've been living with Eczema for 4 yrs now , seen dermatologists and been researching a lot on this disease. Atopic dermatitis, Cradle Cap, Hives all mean the same thing-Eczema. This is why Moisturizer + Steroid creams have been effective in treating your child. BUT, you suspect Food Allergy - SEE AN ALLERGIST RIGHT NOW. It is IMPORTANT and URGENT for the specific foods (usually not more than 4) to be positively identified. Food Allergy can be life-threatening. It's treatable by Epinephrine, which your child should have with him all the time in case of a "bad incident/attack". Do not delay-see an ALLERGIST today. Name: Treatment Country: usa Comment: ECZEMA-inflammation of the skin (dermatitis) characterized by dryness, flakiness, redness and itching. Cause: genetic (hereditary). Triggers: different factors (diff. allergies, stress, etc.). It affects skin anywhere on the body. It could show up at a young (infant or teen) age, disappears and could recur at an adult age – as in my case, now in my 50s. This time, it has stayed with me for much longer time (now, 4 years). So, this time I’ve seen dermatologists and will see an allergist soon. TREATMENT – No Cure, BUT it can be Controlled by the following: (Basic Creams Needed: Moisturizer + Steroid + Infection) 1. Mainly (Not Only), MOISTURIZER. Ex.: Urea lotion (prescription), Avene trixera. Aveeno soap & baby oil do not work. Still have to try bath oils, Aloe vera/neem lotion. 2. Sometimes, to keep moisture in, BANDAGES/wet wraps are helpful. 3. Only for inflammation/itching/cracks, STEROID cream (prescription) – overuse could build up immunity. Or, ANTIHISTAMINES may be prescribed. If steroid does not work, IMMUNOMODULATORS may be prescribed. 4. Only if infection sets in, ANTIBIOTICS may be prescribed. 5. Only in severe cases due to increase risk for skin cancer, PHOTOTHERAPY may be prescribed. 6. Last but not least, some OLD-FASHIONED REMEDIES are still effective-Ex.: tars, menthol. Name: Sujatha Country: usa Comment: My son developed eczema at 2 months. Started with cradle cap and later to red itchy skin behind the knees and on the elbows and also on the tummy. I cured the tummy rash with Biotique aloe vera lotion my mom sent from India. It contains both aloe vera and neem. The eczema on the knees and elbows however kept coming back. So I prepared my own oil by boiling neem leaves in coconut oil until it turns black and massaged my son at bedtime. It took 4 weeks to disappear but the skin is perfectly normal now. No flareups. Was exremely severe during my pregnancy and hasnt yet settled down 6 months on. Have used cortisone on my face when i was younger and unaware of the side effects and recommened NEVER to use this product on the face, now sufer from severe rosacea which is embarassing and sometimes can't leave the house for hours after a shower. Have tried wheat/gluten free diet as well as cutting out high salycilate food (tomatoes) and have excellent results, it seems all the food i love (icecream chocolate tea) are all the ones that trigger the eczma. Have also tried Fusion Allergy Tonic, a chinese herbal tonic which is brilliant, i believe that all heat and rash related skin disorders are liver realted so this is a liver cleansing tonic as well. Vitamin C powder and liquid chlorophyl are also excellent, any green foods over red and acidic foods work for me. Have also been using elidel cream (pimecrolimus cream) which is a non steroid cream with no side effects and can be used on the face. Also Avene trixera is brilliant and any avene product really. Am now searching for a makeup that my skin will tolerate, any suggestions would be great. Name: edina Country: usa Comment: I have come to believe that my eczema has an internal cause. Name: Colleen Country: united kingdom Comment: I had a very bad flare-up of eczema during the hot summer my son was born. My whole body and face became swollen along with the rash and itching. I was given antihestamine tablets which were strong ones I believe and more importantly some fantastic stone coloured paste cream that was strong smelling. This was 20 years ago. It was very messy to put on but who cares if it works and when nothing else does. It cured the eczema brilliantly. Every day I noticed the difference which was very encouraging, until finally I was cured completely. Now 2o years later I have a flare up again. Intense itching but no swelling and no rash on my face as yet. Please, please can someone tell me if they know where I can buy this paste cream from, or what it may contain so that I can tell the pharmatist or homeopathic practionist in order that he can make it up. My doctor has given me steriod cream and anti-hestamines but this is not working for me at night in the same way as the paste did and I get very little sleep. First it started off with sebhorrec dermatitis more commonly called as Cradle Cap. Cradle Cap is now completely gone. But he frequently gets skin rashes and ear infections. Some times occasionally he gets something like Hives when I introduce new foods. Such list includes Banana, Barley, Oats, yogurt made of cow’s milk (not for sure). For the skin rashes, the doctor told us to moisturize as often as possible using Cetaphil. When the flare-ups are high, we use a steroid cream called aclovate. Also now-a-days as winter is progressing, he is getting dry patches on his back, legs, elbows and as usual on his cheeks. As soon as I remove clothes just before taking him to bath, he scratches all over. Welcoming the natural approach to healing and health was important when she developed a severe case of stress eczema for which nothing seemed to help her heal. Nothing, that is, until she took her first swallow of the whole plant (skin, seeds, pulp, juice, stems – pulverized) healing antioxidant agent (Phytotonic), “Via Viente”. ---- Via Viente, an Internet-based International Distribution Company is sold in the United States (Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands), Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and the Philippines. As of November, 2005 Singapore officially opens for distribution with Mexico soon to follow. Via will be in available in 50 countries within the next five years. "Born and raised in California, it was habit to take a handful of vitamins daily. Though this served its purpose in my extremely busy life, I did not realize what I was missing. Due to its liquid form, the bioavailability of Via Viente occurs instantly, as soon as it hits the taste buds. I am not a coffee drinker, so I never got the caffeine kick. I must say, however, Via gives me an enduring energy without the great let down one finds with caffeine. The company, which produces the product in an FDA approved lab, cold processes the product thus preserving the enzymes. It is alive! That is how you feel when you consistently drink it. I will never be without it. A liquefied, whole food product seemed unbelievably convenient also. By taking a shot here and there, I am off and running like a racehorse out of the starting gates. Goodbye foggy brain too. Being a Phytotonic, Via also helps keep the body in an Alkaline Ph state unlike juices, which can create Acidic PH balances which cause breeding grounds for disease that reek havoc on the body’s immune system. The natural anti-inflammatory super drink helps immensely with old injuries, aches and pains. The extremely high antioxidants found in every ounce of Via naturally help aid in the repair of oxidative stress. It also helps the body in elevating the immune system so it can heal. I personally witnessed this in my own health. My enthusiasm for this product is difficult to contain because what it has done for others as well as myself. I am now sharing the gift of health. That is very satisfying all the while building a business doing it. My dream is to be able to supply Via Viente to those suffering from natural disasters, as I know it could sustain them for the duration. Via contains 13 essential minerals necessary for metabolism. That would be a great day!" ViaViente is a liquid "whole food matrix" containing nine fruits and two roots plus the mineral waters of Vilcabamba, Ecuador and its essence. Journalists and scientists studied the people of Vilcabamba, which is featured in National Geographic 1973 edition. The magazine recognized this place as one of the very few areas in the world where 1 in 64 people live over 100 years of age without many chronic diseases we find among western culture. For centuries, Vilcabambans have found medicinal cures in the pure water flowing down the Andes Mountains. A team of doctors created this super drink in 1991. After years of research and development, the fruits and roots were carefully chosen to impact the entire body. The ingredients of Via Viente are grown near the equator because their location in relevance to the sun provides their skins the most powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties than whole fruits grown in other regions. The drink has provided relief for numerous ailments, including aches and pains, reduces blood pressure, digestive problems, and arthritis among others. Being an all-natural product, ViaViente has no side effects. Drinking ViaViente means one is getting the skin, pulp, juice and life-generating seeds of all nine fruits and two roots, and 13 essential minerals. It tastes delicious! Recently "MSNBC" featured Via Viente and its team of scientific developers, and aptly called it," the most powerful nutrient tonic of all time." Name: Tapan Kumar Country: india Comment: ECZEMA Yogic Treatments and Natural Remedies by Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar (ANANDA MARGA) Symptoms: The symptoms of eczema are--the secretion of fluids from sores, itching, burning and throbbing, regular yearly reappearance of the disease, weakness of the body, intermittent fever, and, occasionally, as a result of a virulent attack of the disease, the eating away of the body down to the bones. Causes: When the chyle, blood, flesh and fat, these four elements, all become disturbed, eczema appears. That is why this disease is worse and more harmful than leucoderma, or white leprosy. When, due to weakness of the blood (this weakness is causes in most if not all cases by an attack of dysentery, particularly when this disease has been suppressed by application of some astringent medicine), the skin, flesh and fat become weak and their immune systems lose their strength, the germs of eczema are enabled to settle in a person's body. As a result of the continuous combat between the white blood cells and the eczema germs, the dead white cells and germs start oozing out of the body in the form of pus, or together with fluids or blood. The patient then suffers from continuous agony, because the exudation of the pus, fluid and blood actually starts deep inside the body. Treatment: Morning--Diirgha Pran'a'ma, Yogamudra', Bhu'jaunga'sana, Agnisa'ra Mudra', Padahasta'sana and Shiitalii Kumbhaka. Evening-Matsyendra'sana, Utkat'a Vajra'sana and Ku'rmaka'sana. Diet: All kinds of light, digestible and nutritious food, except sweets and non-vegetarian foods, can be taken by the patient. The patient should also consume sufficient water without fail. Fasting is to be observed on Eka'dashii, Pu'rn'ima' and Ama'vasya' days. Do's and don'ts: Eczema patients must stay away from foods which cause dysentery or constipation. The diseased areas should also be given a daily sun-bath. Till the disease is completely cured, the temptation to take non-vegetarian food and intoxicants should be overcome. Some remedies: 1. White oleander (Nerium odorum Soland) roots, made into paste in water, applied as an ointment; or 2. Taking 5 tolas of a mixture of raw turmeric juice and curd (yogurt), will yield good results. 3. Quick benefits can also be derived by applying musabbar mixed with coconut oil on the sores; or 4. By placing lime (mineral lime) and coconut oil together in a brass pot on the previous night, and the next morning beating the mixture into a foam. Apply the foam on the sores. 5. Take some sulphur and coal soot and grind it into a paste together with coconut oil, then apply as ointment on the sores; or 6. Grind the leaves of kelekonr'a' into a paste in the acrid water from a water-pipe (tobacco pipe), then apply on the sores; this will bring relief even to severe types of sores. The area of the sores should be covered with a bandage of betel (Piper betle Linn.) leaves drenched in coconut oil or cow's ghee. From the traditional healers of Narharpur region, Chhattisgarh, I got information on use of Neem branches in treatment of Eczema. The healers collect the branches and put it in fire. As burning starts, the liquid substance from the branches comes out. The healers collect the substance and apply it directly in affected parts. According to them, after two or three applications, the patients get rid from this trouble for ever. I have seen use of many other herbs and herbal formulations but not found all these herbs as effective as this treatment. Take nutmeg(jaiphal) powder and add a little water to make paste of it; then apply it on affected parts. Heat 250 ml mustard oil in a thick bottomed iron pan. When oil starts boiling put some newly formed neem leaves in it. As soon as the color of these leaves change to black, remove the pan from heat and allow it to cool. Now sieve this oil and put in a bottle. Apply this oil at the affected area.
