I have had migraine for the past 5 years. Its generally triggered by bright lighting (like in the office), strong perfumes (esp. jasmine based), or spending a lot of time under the sun. At the onset of Migraine, i take Grenil (Domperidone + Paracetomol) or Flunarin (Flunarizine) with Meftal Spas (anti spasmodic). This offers relief when coupled with sleeping in a dark room. i tried homeopathy but did not work.

When I get head ache, I heat a tawa [ pan where u make make dosa or rotis] and put a hand towel on the heated pan and once the towel absorbs the pan heat, dab the towel on my frontal forehead, the sides of the forehead , on the cheeks , back side of the neck. It gives some relief. For some, steaming might help. I heard acupressure is effective for migraines, head aches and any form of pain. Better plug both your ears with a roasted garlic piece wrapped inside a cotton pad. Another home remedy for cold related head aches would be to administer 2 drops of mustard oil on each nostril and inhale deeply. After sometime, what ever water particles lodged inside the head, come out through the nose through sneezing or running nose. Pranayama is another way to beat stress , headaches and other ailments

i have had migraine since so long that i dont care otherwise. and when in the attack, i am not in the state to care. i have tried vasograin, flunarin, migranil and so on, always under prescription though. deep breathing , vomitting , sleeping in dark, good head massage help mostly. diet control , lifestyle change helps , but i am so lousy with sticking to them. i hope my message doesnt encourage popping of pills in form of usage of over te counter drugs! simple , non masala food , a good sleep hygeine, moderate exercise including pranyam. and dont think much about trivial issues. and no chatting for hours at end. maintain an anatomically correct posture, mostly the neck! and i hope u guys manage to reduce the frequency of the same.

I get severe migraines and have taken upto 4 vasograins daily. My doctor (neuro) told me to stop taking vasograin as it narrows down the veins to reduce flow of blood into the brain and in the latter stages may cause brain atropy.

I am 77 and have had migraines off and on for many, many years. They start with an aura, (an arc of zigzaggy light disturbing my vision) and if I take two butalbital tablets (also known as Fioricet as soon as the aura appears, close my eyes and rest for a while, the headache pain does NOT come on. This medication is a barbiturate and should not be used excessively. It comes with either aspirin or acetaminophin and caffeine. I hope this remedy may help someone whose migraine is forewarned with an aura. It has been a blessing for me.

I have been suffering from migrain since the age of 10. The recurrent attacks and its fear has litteraly stalled my professional progress eventhough i am a post graduate electronics engineer with flying academic records and specialised in VLSI design field. Due to the restrictions of travelling, outside food(good triggrs of migraine)i have settled in engineering teaching profession. Now i am 40 but still suffering from migraine. The pain is so intense that during that period i get suicidal thoughts.Tried homeopathy-no relief. tried aurved-no relief. i have even tried yoga and meditation ( siddha-samadhi Yog, Bangalore). But onlt allopathy gives relief that too a temporary relief. My migrain usually begins the moment i get up in the morning.I usually take Vesograin alongwith zentac (acidity)and stemetil, apply lot of zandu balm and sleep for the whole day without eating. i get relief in the evening only after vommitting. The side effects of the medicines are affecting me now after so many years of allopathy drug consumption. some of the side effects are - dry and eyes, joint pain, sleeping disorder, bleeding piles and so on. My own experience is, don't run for the permanant relief believe only in temporary relief. Migraine is your faithful companion for the entire life. So be happy and learn to live happily with it.

There is no permanent cure of migraine. Medication can give you a temporary reliefe. If you are doing any meditation that can also help but though it's not a permanent cure. Whenever you leave the mediction or meditation... you will again suffer from Migraine. I have been suffering from Migraine for quite sometime and only found temporary cure. So guys don't worry and don't get afraid. One suggestion... please try to reduce your stress. It really helps to get rid of migraine.

I know that there is longstanding improvemnet with Homeo medicines... but there is the risk of being prescribed steroids in homeo which can affect the menstrual cycle in women and also lead to increase in weight.Hence it is important that only best homeo doctors are consulted. Vasograine is indeed a great medicine but it might be a blood thinner.I am not sure of the composition of medicine nor its side effects. Generally, blood thinners provide increased blood flow to the brain thereby reducing the headache. I suffer migraine triggered by the smell of strong perfume, flowers, bright light, loud sound, too much heat /humidity or too much cold.Too much anything triggers it. The migraine onset for the first attck is generally after having suffered some kind of illness or mental agony/shock.I seems to have an impact of both sides.

I have what is called 'classic migranes',I think. These begin with flashing lights/ right or left [in fact, one was severe enough I now suffer from hemianopia (an infarction)]. From the lights, one side of my body gets numb and then my speech and thoughts get all-mixed-up. I had many migranes when on the birth control pill and during the first 3-4 months of being pregnant. Over the years, I visited many neurologists who prescribed various drugs, most helped 'a little.' I cannot take any OTC drugs for migraine as they all react with the MAO Inhibitor I take daily. I finally found the perfet solution: ONE DAILY BABY ASPIRIN! ONE LAST COMMENT: I feel that 'a-lot-of' people who say they have migraine headache when they have no idea what a migraine headache really is!

Hi all, I have suffered from migraines for the past 12 years now. My migraines have become very complicated and affect my academic and social life. I have noticed that a lack of sunlight, eating cheese and cocolates and a very sweet peculiar scent trigger off a migraine in me. However, I have been taking vasograin for the past 3 years now. I think I am immune to it now. I am currently studying in the U.S and had a migraine attack recently. It was severe and I had to be injected with some substance used for kids who suffer from migraines. The doctor's here after conducting thorough checkups have prescribed topomax which has to be taken everyday. I know what it is like to suffer from a migraine almost once a week, once a month. Nonetheless, I drink alot of mountain dew as and when I feel a migraine coming on....it really helps me...better than any other pop.

hello to you all i have suffered migraines now for 12 years which is nice i too have stopped eating this and that to try and find a way of cutting down migraine attacks but alas i am still none the wiser,i drink more water than i ever have watch what i eat but it doesnt seem to make much different.I am off work again for the 4th time this month and it is affecting my work greatly but what do we have to do to beat this i hope someone somewhere knows the answer. My attacks start with the aura which starts very small and ends up a half arc over my entire left or right eye then will gradually pass over to the opposite eye, once that has gradually reduced to nothing i get a tingling numbness start on my little finger(left or right varies with each attack)which moves accross all my fingers 2 at a time travelling to the last finger on the opposite hand then will move to my elbow ,once that stops my lip will start going numb then my whole mouth, once that stops boy do i get one hell of a headache which eventually goes after 3-4 days and then i can carry on till the next attack sometimes daily, weeklyand now and again i wont have an attack for 6-9 months but then when it does come on it makes up for the time i havent had one and it will knock me out of action for a solid week and on 3 occasions i have had an attack every day for 2 weeks, but still no medicine seems to work for me the pain still lasts the same amount of time as though i hadnt taken any tablets at all,so i wish you all luck with this burden of ours and hope that someday soon we will be sorted.take care all vince.

Headache is a sign of some serious problem in some other part of the body. I have been suffering from migrain for 10 years. Initially, I used to take VASOGRAIN during migrain. I used to get relief within half an hour. Later on with the increase in the frequency of the migrains, I started taking CLOTAN. Releif is assured with in half an hour. Now, I have started taking Backsons homoeopathic treatment. It is very good and at the same time very costly treatment. Backson clinic charges Rs. 6000 per year or Rs. 800 per month. They do not disclose the name of their medicine. Just try, if could afford.

hi Imran, During these years, I have consulted a no. of doctors or specialist. But according to them, there is no treatment for it. It comes on its own and goes away one day. So, the best thing is to do SUTRANETI. If you do it daily, migraine's attack will be minimised. Gur or sometimes tomato is very effective. For immediate relief I take vasograin which was prescribed by a specialist. Avoid loud music or strong purfume or fragrance

I have been suffering from migraine for the last seven years. But the frequency of attack is reducing. During pregnancy, I did not take any medicine and I found that slowly slowly the frequency was reduced. I read somewhere that when we do not take any medicine, our brain starts making antibodies or its ability against migraine. Second thing we you do not believe in it, then try some sweet or salty eatable like gur or namkeen. You do sutraneti, its very easy. If you are still suffering from migraine then take one tab. of VASOGRAIN. Its very effective, you can take it twice in a day.

Ever since I was pregant with my 3rd child (now 5 yrs old) i get migraines at least 2x a month. most of the time I just have to deal with it because I am allergic to Ibprophin and i still nurse my youngest child so mopst precrictpions are out. Tytonal helps a little but not much. on the average the migraine lasts between 1 and 4 days. I did not think that was possiable till I experencied it. Good luck to the rest of you.

I also suffer a lot from migraines. Stress, and wrong eating habits (eating too less, or eating too late) cause migraines in me. Imitrex has greatly helped me. I also use frozen vegetable bags on the head, and migraine ice pads. Lying down in a quiet dark room is good. Hope this helps other migraine sufferers.

My first attack was as I thought life threatening. All the symptom of a stroke, lack of balance, vision, speech, and any other mobile skill. Come to find out it was a "Complicated Migraine". My doctors say to avoid caffeine and several other foods. But all migraine medicines have some caffein, can anyone explain that?

I've found out through personal experience and researching through various other sources that the CAUSE (not trigger) of migraines is lactose intolerance in certain individuals. Remove the lactose via lactose enzymes (Lactaid) or abstinance and the trigger-foods won't trigger a migraine! HEATED lactose, such as in coffee, tea, and soups seems to almost always trigger a migraine in me. But be wary because lactose is in so SO MANY foods! - Richie

However, I applied the treatment of Gemstone therapy, the severity of pain started decreasing rapidly and a complelete relief within one month time.
