Easy-to-Cook Kid Friendly Recipes

Here are some ideas for making kid friendly meals that also helps to meet the nutritional requirements of the kid.

Kids can be fussy eaters mostly, while some are very cool with anything that pleases there taste-buds. But since it is important to keep in mind the nutritional requirements of the kid at all times, as it their developmental stage, you have to ensure that each meal you serve them are healthy, nutritious as well as pleasing to their eyes and mouth. This can indeed be an ordeal to ensure that all the aspects are met, but with a little twist and a bit of tweaking to your regular meals, you can get the combination amazingly right.

Here are some ways in which you can get kid friendly recipes ready without much of an effort or time:

A Salad Basket

Get some wafers from the market or bake a basket with whole wheat flour and spices. In a bowl mix all the seasonal fruits cut into bit sized chunks, season them with some herbs or appropriate spices and fill them into the basket. The kids are sure to be delighted with this colourful stuff, and you will be assured that the nutritional levels are just right.

Make Veg or Non Veg Tortillas

Tortillas or tacos are always easy to make. In the homely style you can also go for the usual handmade Roti. Make the filling with various fillings that you can serve at different times, so that the kid does not get bored with them. One day you can go green and stuff all green veggies. Serve another tortilla or taco with a dash of colour like, corn, tomatoes and peas. Then again you have the option of filling them with scrambled eggs or shredded and boiled chicken.

Chicken Salad Wrap

Your kids would also love these wraps when you serve them in bit sized portions. Use a cabbage or a lettuce leaf and fill in with boiled chicken seasoned with spices. Add colour as much as possible, as kids need to have their meals look interesting as well.

Hand Tossed Pizzas

It is not advisable to order a pizza from the regular joint if your kid is fond of pizzas. Make them at home with whole grain flour. The base can be peppered with an abundance of choices, from veg to non veg.

Turn-Around Rice Dishes

If the kid is just not ready to have his rice with Dal and Sabzi, you have to work out a turnaround. Incorporate the same ingredients, but present them in a different manner. For example, you can boil the veggies and temper them with the appropriate seasoning and mix it with the rice to give a feel of a Pulao, cutting out the fat content of course. Or add some chunks of fish or lean meat to make it appear like a kid’s Biriyani.

Smoothies

Kids and adults love them alike. When kids are not ready to have milk or fruits, all you do is mix them together and make a colourful smoothie. Make sure that the glass is attractive and serve it with a straw with a little amount of crushed ice. You will find them gulp it down with glee.

Finally, every mother or parent would agree that it tough to please the kid at all times. They are all oh-so-moody! One moment they will finish up the plate, while the next they will refuse to take a single nibble, even if you have ensured that all the necessary aspects are taken care of. So, it is just a time to be patient and persistently innovative with your ideas and presentation of the meal. Without much effort, fuss-free meals will be a reality.
